Hummel is a largely forgotten composer to the average listener, and still mostly unknown amongst more serious classical buffs, except perhaps, the devotees who long for a more relaxed age - one in which Mozart is still the only composer of repute.
Chandos have released an excellent recording of Hummel, more than capably played/conducted by Howard Shelley in this superb interpretation of Hummel's work, including a world premiere recording of Le Retour à Londres.
