I am notoriously nasty to my footwear, especially the 'recreational' variety that just dont seem to have the durability to survive my aimless wanderings around the house, and outside as well. So over the years I have refined a list of traits and attributes my ideal footwear MUST have in order to justify me handing over my dosh.
1 - Comfortable : No point in wearing painful footwear.
2 - Durable : If they won't last me at least a year, they aren't worth it.
3 - Inexpensive : That's a bit of a relative one really. I would rather buy 3 pairs of $20 shoes that will last 6 months each, than buy one $100 pair that last a year.
4 - Stylish : They have to look good, but this is the lowest priority for me. But I still won't buy ugly footwear no matter how well it does in the first three areas.
When I was presented with these slippers and asked to give them a trial run, my first impression was that they looked quite stylish, the soles looked very sturdy and had a good gripping treat pattern, but the inner soles felt wierd. All soft and spongy with no real evidence of support. However, since I had already agreed to give them a try, I slipped them on.
After 10 minutes walking around inside, I was surprised to find that I couldn't really feel them, they fit so well and were so comfortable, my feet had forgotten them. The only other footwear that my feet can forget about are a well broken-in pair of Redback workboots I have had for about 4 years.
The memory foam inner sole reacts to the heat and pressure applied by your foot to shape itself into a perfect fit, giving you support without sacrificing comfort. A rare commodity in today's disposable consumeristic environment. Though they fit all four categories as far as I can tell after only a few weeks, I am not much of a 'slipper' man, so these will probably sit in the back of the wardrobe more often than not, however for those who do enjoy a good pair of warm slippers, that they can still wear out to the letterbox and back, these will be a great choice to consider. Get to your local Adman shop and give them a test run, or walk, for yourself.
