The Emoji Movie product reviews

The Emoji Movie unlocks the never-before-seen secret world inside your smartphone. Hidden within the messaging app is Textopolis, a bustling city where all your favorite emojis live, hoping to be selected by the phone's user.

In this world, each emoji has only one facial expression ‚" except for Gene, an exuberant emoji who was born without a filter and is bursting with multiple expressions. Determined to become ‚únormal‚Ě like the other emojis, Gene enlists the help of his handy best friend Hi-5 and the notorious code breaker emoji Jailbreak.

The Emoji Movie is a film that I thought had potential but I wasn't too interested in watching it, however I had three children who had seen the trailer and were very eager to see it, so off we went to the movie theaters and here we are a year and a half later and I have so far managed to avoid watching it a second time or even buying it on DVD (which really tells you how little I enjoyed it). The animation is good and the soundtrack suits the film well but beyond that I really struggled to find anything that I could enjoy and it just wasn't memorable at all for me. And whilst my kids did enjoy it when it came out, they have never asked if we could buy the DVD.

The plot had merit and could have been done well but in the end it felt really flat and ended up more like one giant advertisement for various apps instead of an actual film aimed at entertaining (two more recent films have managed to include popular apps without it feeling blatantly obvious or forced). When it came to the characters there was simply nothing there that had me caring about any of them, they had no depth to them and even though our main character, Gene, was having a hard time trying to fit in and being the odd one out, I just didn't care about him, he could have been left an outsider and I still wouldn't have felt sorry for him.

Most kids film have at least one redeeming feature, I can't find that app for this film.

Product reviews for listing 4311: Johnny English
Directed by Peter Howitt

Product image for Johnny EnglishHe Knows No Fear. He Knows No Danger. He Knows Nothing.

When her majesty's crown jewels are stolen by a conniving Frenchman, who also plans to steal the queen's throne, spy Johnny English, a bit unseasoned but intensely enthusiastic, is thrown onto the case.

Fast cars, high tech gadgets, top secret info--Johnny can hardly believe it. He may be in over his head, but his courage and dedication are unmatched - especially after he meets double agent Lorna Campbell and discovers that falling in love makes saving the nation even more exciting.
