Quality plastic feeder. Made from high quality UV stabilised plastic for long life.
This size is ideal for chicks or bantams.
We only have 7 small chickens but crikey they eat a lot and are always hanging around looking for food. Unfortunately of the 7 chickens we have 3 of them are roosters and when they come down to the house looking for food they make a hell of a racket so it was important that we had a food source there consistently for them to stop them hanging around the house all the time.
We bought this one off Trademe for a good price although I think we probably could of even got a bigger one! The feeder takes a good 1.5kg of food so it does last them a few days before you need to refill it again though. It took them a few days to work out how to use it, as you hang it up in so it is not on the ground and they were very cautious of it at first. As soon as one got the hang of it the others followed and they have been using it now really well.
The good thing with it being off the ground is it stays clean, I found with a feeding tray on the ground it needed to be cleaned a lot as they would stand in it and end up getting poos and everything all through their food. The top comes off too so it would be really easy to clean when it does need to be cleaned. I think this is a great invention and when the budget allows we are going to get something similar for their water to make that easier too.
