Blue Lake TOP 10 Holiday Park - Rotorua's only TOP 10 holiday Park located on the picturesque and stunning Blue Lake.
Nestled on the edge of the beautiful Lake Tikitapu (also known as Rotorua's Blue Lake), Blue Lake TOP 10 Holiday Park has over 14 acres of well-maintained grounds set in a tranquil native bush setting. Blue Lake TOP 10 has been awarded a Qualmark ENVIRO GOLD award for Environmental practices.
You can wake up to the singing of native birds, with the lake only a short distance from your Rotorua camping accommodation. Our Rotorua holiday park is located a short 10 minute drive from the centre of Rotorua, offering the best of both worlds - close to attractions and shops, yet removed from the bustling city environment.
Close to the beautiful Rotorua Lakes
Blue Lake TOP 10 Holiday Park is conveniently located to take advantage of surrounding lakes Okareka, Tarawera and Tikitapu (Blue Lake). The Blue Lake area also hosts a number of NZ sporting events throughout the year, so be sure to book early and get close to the action! There are great boating and watersport opportunities close at hand, whether it's waterskiing, kayaking, dragon boat racing, fishing, jet skiing, swimming or simply relaxing. Blue Lake hosts the annual Rotorua Xterra event.
Great Walks and adventure activities
Take in a number of scenic and natural sights such as the Blue Lake Walk - one of the most beautiful walks in Rotorua, taking you 5km around the lake. Or meander through the majestic Redwoods of Whakarewarewa Forest, full of great places for mountain biking (great ride along the Green Lake!!), running and walking.

We don't go camping often as I find it a bit of a mission with small children and I am more of a motel girl than a tent girl but when we have gone camping we have used this camping ground. We have visited twice as a family and my partners own family stayed there often when he was young.
We love the lakes and Rotorua as there is so much to do and apart from all the tourist attractions there is actually a lot of free stuff around the Rotorua area like the blue lakes that are great for the whole family. Being nestled away from the main town area it is such a beautiful and peaceful place to be. Although at peak times of years this holiday park gets very busy and camping grounds at night time can be very noisy.
We always get a power site and take the combi van as we can set the awning up off the side for the kids and have the main bed in the van for ourselves. With the power it means we can take a light and stuff to hang in the awning for our daughter who is not a fan of darkness at night and means we don't run the battery flat in the combi.
The sites are really big so you have plenty of room to set up a table and barbeque outside so you have everything you need in close proximity. One time when we stayed there it rained and we couldn't use the barbeque but they have a huge kitchen area with lots of oven tops where you can cook food. There are also lots of sink spaces for washing your dishes.
The showers take a 20cent coin so are not free but they are still good showers, you may have a bit of a wait if you stay there at their peak time but it is generally not too bad as they have two shower blocks. The bathroom has nice big mirrors with a hair dryer at every mirror so it is great to get yourself ready for the day.
You don't really need to leave the holiday park as there are nice walks that you can go on and the lake to go swimming, and there are playgrounds and trampolines for the kids to play on. The one time we stayed there the rowing competitions were on so the lake was closed to swimmers, but there are other lakes in close proximity that you can drive to as well.
All in all I would highly recommend this holiday park and will definitely stay there again once my son is a bit older and will enjoy camping.
