Real chunks of roasted chicken breast, cooked and shredded for ease of use. Available in convenient 100g twin pack. The perfect addition to sandwiches.
Shredded chicken is one of those food items that you can easily do yourself at home, but in today's society when we are most often rushed in the afternoons with activities for kids or getting home from a long day at work, finding the time to shred ones own chicken is not always an option. But now, with Tegals twin pack of shredded chicken life has been made a whole lot easier and better.
The twin pack means if you do not need it all in one go, the easy to open tear back lid can be opened on one side only, leaving the other side freshly sealed until next time. And an added bonus is the expiry date is a little longer than if you were to buy the chicken from the supermarket deli, so you have no wastage and do not have to stress about how soon you use it. Meaning I can buy it on a Tuesday and know that come Friday the kids can have fresh chicken wraps in their school lunch without any fear of sickness.
I have also found that unlike the delis shredded chicken which can often be quite bland and try, this is nicely flavoured, a great texture, and not dry in the slightest. And it is versatile. We use it in pasta bakes, wraps, salads, home made pizzas and burgers or in a simple sandwich. It is also great added into rice risotto when money is tight and food is low and you need a filling meal for the kiddies that you know they wont waste, and every body loves chicken so its a win win for all.
Tegels shredded classic roast chicken such a tasty and convenient product. Before this product came out on the market I used to buy the shredded chicken at my weekly grocery shops from the supermarket deli, however I quite often found it to be very dry or would forget to use it within the day or 2 before its expiry more often than not it would end up going to waste.
When I saw this in the chiller section of the supermarket I knew this was exactly what I needed to buy, 2 seperate little trays of yummy shredded chicken, conveniently sealed with a expiry date beyond a week, no more waste.
This has become my go to ingredient when I need a quick meal that I want to add some meat to. I have used it on homemade pizzas, chicken, cranberry sauce and camembert cheese is a very yummy combination. It also goes great on paninis, sandwiches in pastas and is a quick and easy to add to a yummy salad, perfect for the hot summer months where you don't really want to be slaving over a hot stove top in the heat to cook your meat.
My daughter loves chicken so will often choose one of the containers of chicken from the fridge as a snack with some raw vegetables and fruit, which is a great way to ensure that she is getting that important protein into her. The yummy herbs and spices that they cook the chicken in is the perfect balance and flavour combination giving it a yummy seasoning which makes it taste great, the meat is always so juicy and tender.
Would definetely recommend to others, and will certainly continue to purchase for as long as it is on the market.
This is a handy fridge fav of mine!
I used to buy shredded chicken from the deli and feel I had to hurry up and use it as soon as I brought it. But now I don't have that worry with this handy twin pack, it can stay sealed in the fridge for a couple of weeks before it needs eating, though it never last that long in my house.
I mainly use it for lunches for work, either in a sandwich or roll or added to a salad and of course on pizza. I did mix it through packet pasta one night but didn't really like it. My three year old loves it mixed with a little mayo and popped into her lunchbox for daycare. The meat its self is soft and moist and in small pieces so just right for everything. And I love that it comes in Roast chicken flavour but also, in chilli and Italian for a bit of a change up in your sandwiches.
This is certainly a staple in my fridge from now on.
I have bought and used this product in a couple of ways. Firstly, the shredded chicken makes a great addition to any lunch. You can add it to a sandwich, or put it in a roll or croissant. Once in a sandwich, you can eat it by itself or with other fillings. You can add a nice green salad and cheese. Or add some marmite and tomato slices. Another fun one is to add some mayo and peanut butter instead.
This is also great on a homemade pizza. Just prepare your base and then add cranberry jelly and slices of camembert. Or you can do your own style meatlovers with this, chunks of bacon and slices of pastrami or salami. I usually use whatever is sitting in my fridge.
Another use for this product is in pasta bakes. It added some protein to a cheese sauce and pasta mix, especially if you are out of bacon at the time. Adding a bit of cayenne pepper for a bit of kick and some salt seems to bring out the flavour best. Otherwise the cheese sauce seems to make this a bit too bland.
I love the pack too. Although they are often a little hard to get in to. I like that it's twin pack, so you can use one section and leave the other properly sealed. I just use a knife to open the side I need and then snap off the other section for use later.
I have bought this product a few times to add to homemade pizza and found it easy, tasty and quick to use. It is good grab at the supermarket rip the top off and spread over the pizza base add whatever other toppings and sauces and the pizza is basically done...and by adding this chicken it gives the pizza a sense of gourmet, as the herbs added to the chicken gives it a wonderful flavour and the shredded cut makes the chicken look appealing.
I like that the chicken pieces are quality pieces, all chicken meat and none of the nasty other bits like skin and grizzle. The chicken is tender and just melts in your mouth...and with being 97% fat free it is a good choice for health conscience people that need a quick and easy option when they can't be bothered at the end of a long day, but don't want takeaways as an option.
Available in a twin pack is perfect because I can use one side one day and know that the other pack is still sealed and kept fresh in the other side, but the frustrating thing is sometimes the two sides have different amounts of chicken in, sometimes one has more and one has less! So if I am using for a pizza topping one can have more chicken and the other less chicken, I wouldn't have thought it would be hard for the manufacturers to get the same amount of chicken in both pouches!
The price is high but for the convenience and quality of chicken it is justified, and this chicken is ready to go, shredded and ready to be used straight away and can be eaten cold on a sandwich, or reheated to a satisfactory level on a pizza or in a pie etc....and even though it only looks like a small amount of chicken but it does go a long way as the taste is amazing.
I have been buying these for my son for his lunches he loves chicken and of course I don't always have cold shredded chicken in the fridge for his sandwiches at lunch time so that is where these little snack packs come in. They come in a twin pack so each pack lasts us for two days and as they are sealed the one pack stays fresh in the fridge for the next day.
They come in a twin pack with a total weight of 100 grams and I have noticed that each pack doesn't have an even amount you might end up getting 25 grams on one side and 75 on the other so that can be a bit annoying when one day you have heaps of chicken and the next day you have hardly any. Each snack pack is really only enough for one sandwich but that is all I need so is really convenient for my use but not really great value for money as they are quite expensive for what they are.
The chicken is really nice it has a nice taste to it where they have obviously added herbs to it so it tastes really nice. I have never found any bits of yuck looking chicken in any packet so far and no fatty bits or bits of skin it is all really good quality white meat which is the bit my son likes to eat so he loves these little packs.
I have also used them when I am making a pizza as they are quite easy to just add as a topping to a pizza as the chicken is already cooked so you can top your pizza really quickly with no preparation time, and sometimes I will stir it through some pasta and sauce for my son for another quick meal so they do have a lot of convenience to them.
