My First Soap FactoryProduct reviews...
Many years ago a friend asked me if I knew where to buy soap crayons. I had never even heard of soap crayons, so I was stumped. When, a short time ago, I was sent an assortment from the Soaprageous range for review, I was very interested to see these 'soap crayons' at last.
Basically, what you have is a hard plastic shell, big enough for wet little hands to get a good grip on, a ratchet-catch system similar to a craftknife, and a small plastic carrier holding the actual crayon itself. There isn't much crayon, compared to the size of the holder, but it doesn't dissolve very fast, meaning a reasonable lifespan still.
The catch system was a little bit of a worry, as I managed to break one just by trying to extend the crayon out of the sleeve, but nothing a drop of superglue didn't fix. Just means no more retractable. However, in deference to safety issues, I was pleased to note that the only weak-spot will break leaving no sharp bits sticking out of the main hardshell, so even when broken, they are still relatively kid-safe.
After much fun drawing the Superman logo on my 4yr old son's chest, and him drawing abstract celtic-like designs over the rest of himself, he jumped back into the bath and had great fun washing himself clean.
The crayons were easily used. Extend the crayon itself, dip the tip in warm water, and start drawing... how easy is that! Even a kid can do it. :) The range of colours can vary between packs... we didn't get red in our pack, but got a lovely teal colour instead.
Overall, I was really quite taken with these, as was my son. Now they are his 'special treat' and for a nice change is actually asking for bath-time after a phase of "don't wanna!". And with summer (apparently) approaching, these could be great fun outdoors too. Two teams, each marked with a different pen colour, armed with waterbombs, waterguns and hoses... to win, you have to be the last person with soap still showing. Could be a new summer sport!
