I bought these for my granddaughter now she is 1 and moving on to more harder textured food and allowed more variety. I liked that they did not have the added salt, colour, flavours, and preservatives etc and the pack was a good size. I would have liked it more if the pack was resealable though, and I admit that I needed to use scissors to open as it was a little bit of a mission opening with out the scissors. This means that buying them when on the go without something to open the bag, could lead to the entire bag being ripped open the wrong way and the contents spilling out.
So anyway, I got these, feeling quietly confident that she was going to love them. Sadly I was wrong which is such a shame because you really do get heaps of them in the bag. Anyone yet to try them who does in the future will be seriously surprised at how many you do get. They are the perfect shape and size for little hands too which is fantastic. But if you have a picky eater you might find them stored in the freezer like I have had to do.
I did not give up giving them to her after the first try and her throwing it across the room haha every time she visits I try again, every time she screws up her face and throws them across the room or feeds them to the dog (the chicken also likes them). It is kind of amusing though because she recognizes the packaging and gets really excited when she sees the packet, but as soon as she puts the rice cake in her mouth, her nose screws up and thats the end of that. There has always got to be that one picky child though...so it may as well be her!
I get the little apple flavoured corn cakes for my eldest daughter as a snack for when she is sick or recovering from a tummy bug. But recently I have noticed that my baby loves corn cakes too. While she is quite partial to the fruit flavoured ones, I wanted to add something savoury to her diet.
I chose these tomato flavoured corn cakes for a couple of reasons. I don't really like tomato flavouring, so I figured that would mean that I wouldn't snack on them too. Also I figured that if my baby didn't like them, my eldest daughter would happily have them for lunches until they were gone. I didn't need to worry at all.
My baby loves to eat these corn cakes. When I get them out and offer them to her, she bounces forward in her seat eager to get them. She will happily eat two or three in a sitting and I offer them along with a puree. We are doing baby led weaning and I have noticed that if she gets messy feeding herself the puree, I feed her a corn cake or two and the corn reduces the mess on her face and hands. So I have very little clean up to do as well.
My eldest daughter love the taste of these as well and will happily have a handful as a snack after school, while she is waiting for dinner. Unfortunately, I also really like the flavour. The flavour is subtle which I appreciate. These would be great with a salsa at a party too. They are a bit pricier than the plain apple corn cakes I get, but they are a great thing to have in the pantry. Love them!
I found these when searching for healthy snack options for my 1 year old. He had had corn thins before and really enjoyed them so I thought to give these a try as they were a better size for his little hands and tummy. They were quite an expensive option but you do get quite a lot in a packet so they last for a while as long as you put them in a airtight container as the packet does not re seal.
They taste really nice, they remind me of a spicy tomato muncho in flavour and my son really likes the taste. I also have to keep them hidden from his big sister as she really likes them too. Being a rice cake they are a lot softer and easier to eat than normal crackers which is good and being rice they are a lot healthier too.
It would be nice to have some different savoury flavours, they do do a apple version and a strawberry yoghurt version, but a cheese or something similar would be good as I try not to give my son too much sweet foods. Other than that they are a great product that I like to give my son from time to time as a treaty between meals and would definetly recommend them as a snack for other peoples children.
