After trying the Klutz Bead Rings Miss 14 was very keen to try this.
The contents were amazing, everything you need, 18 bottle caps, 250 punch outs, beads, sequins and jewels, clasps and an easy to follow instruction book.
I've never had a creative bone in my body but I decided I would give it a go, a nice mother daughter bonding time. I actually enjoyed it :) decorating the capsters was easy, mine were reasonably basic where as Miss 14 blinged hers to the max. She used materials from around the house, glitter and small pictures from magazines and photos of family to really personalise them.
With practice I'm sure I will get better and one thing we both need to practice more is the finishing of the project, it is fiddly and doesnt look tidy, it comes undone easily, something we need to work on.
A throughly enjoyable time had by both :)
We had a disasterous start to this with Miss Five opening the plastic box and everything flying everywhere. There are a lot of beads etc to fly everywhere too, so not a great start. Beware, open the box very carefully!
So this was actually pretty fun. We laid out an old table cloth (to catch the beads and spilled glaze) and set to work. We found the glazing and putting beads on the capsters pretty easy and with minimal effort, very quickly Miss Five had produced gorgeous necklace and bracelet capsters. It was then down to me to do the knot tying and attaching of clasps and jump rings.
This was actually really tricky. The end result didn't look as tidy as I would have liked and the jump rings kept pulling apart. They didn't seem very strong. I.e. stretched too easy and it all fell apart.
I am going to keep practising on my knot tying and hopefully by the time we have used up all the capsters I will be proficient!
There are only three large capsters in this set and I would have liked to have a few more as the single pendants look awesome and you can fit more beads on the large capsters. The small capsters are very fiddly. There are 250 punch out art pieces to put inside or outside your capsters. They are pretty cool.
Also Klutz recommends that you also need: a bunch of toothpicks, a sharp pair of scissors, pliers, paper clips and nail polish. A pair of tweezers was helpful to me also.
A very enjoyable activity with some very functional, wearable results!

Explore the wonder of color using Crayola ® Color Wonder ™. Color Wonder is a unique ink, developed by Crayola scientists, that appears only on special paper.
The ink is clear on most surfaces, but each marker "magically" shows up a different color on Color Wonder paper. Color Wonder is great for craft projects, too.
Enjoy mess-free creativity!
