This Means War product reviews

When two young hotshots from the CIA - FDR and Tuck - get desk duty for botching a mission, life becomes interminable. Used to the full-on action out in the field, desk duty has them going slowly crazy with boredom, but it gives them time to think. In an attempt to rectify his lonely life, Tuck signs up to an online dating site.

Lauren is a top-notch product tester, educating the public about what is good to buy and what's not worth it. She's been single for far too long, according to her best friend, who signs her up to an online dating site... where she discovers Tuck.

After leaving Tuck at the end of their first date, Lauren bumps into FDR in the video store nearby, and he is stunned by her powerful self-determinism and ability to resist his charms. Feeling the thrill of a real chase, he aims to seduce this mystery woman.

When FDR and Tuck discover they are both after the same woman, they make a "Gentleman's Agreement" to play fair. With the resources of the CIA behind them, how long do you think that will last? All is fair in Love and War.

*sigh* Chris Pine, good enough reason to see the movie for me. Wink Icon

I wanted to see this when it came out, but the one time we had the money it wasn't on at a good time for us, so we waited till it came out on DVD and hired it as a new release. While half the movie would have been great to see on the big screen, the other half, not so much. So it turned out to be a good choice to hire it out.

I ended up watching this with my mum and my husband and we all ended up enjoying it. Although my mum preferred Tuck (*tsk tsk*), we all enjoyed the movie. I felt that it had a good mixture of comedy and action, and my husband even agreed that it was the right mix of genres.

I can see myself watching this again, if not for the fantasy of two guys fighting over one girl, then for the great romance, bromance, comedy and action. Go on, go hire it, you know you want to.

I was lucky enough to get a free seat at This Means War with a lovely lady who won tickets. I wasn't sure what to think of the movie beforehand. I had mentioned it to my husband and he was not at all keen.

The start of the movie was very action-heavy. Again, I wasn't too sure about it. I don't pick to go to action films when I'm having me or girly-time. But as the movie continued I found myself really enjoying myself. It is not what I would deem a "boy movie". Its a chick or date flick, with romance, laughs and some action going on for the boys - thought maybe not enough.

I agree that there is some serious eye-candy in this movie. The story was a bit predictable, but still fun. Chelsea Handler just about steals the show with every one of her scenes. I'm not a great fan of hers at all, but her lines were really funny and she had good delivery.

I'd definitely hire this out when it goes to DVD for a fun girly night. Nibbles, wine, cocktails and a cuddle up with good mates.

I was very lucky to win tickets from KIWIreviews to see "This Means War". I was in two minds whether to go and see it as it has received mixed reviews and it had Reece Witherspoon. I am also well known for falling asleep in the theatre. Finally last night I went to see it. I am very glad I did. It was my first time at Hoyts Te Awa and it is very flash and comfy.

I had been told it would be a good date movie as it had action and romance. I am pleased I went to this with another female as I don't think there was enough action in it for most males. Sure there was a high speed chase and CIA agents, but it is essentially a romantic comedy. I spent the whole movie trying to guess who she will end up with Tuck, FDR or neither. My first and second prediction was wrong.

There were parts of the movie that I was laughing out loud along with others in the theatre. I have a new appreciation for finger painting. I found the 90 minutes went very fast but the ending for the losing guy didn't really fit with the rest of the movie.

Comedy? YEAH! Sounds good... but... Romance? Some serious -hmmm- factor in that for me... but still, the trailer looked good and it seemed to have plenty of action, so.... OK, I'll make the 95 minute drive north to go check this out.

And you know what, I'm really glad I did! This proved to be a hilarious movie, despite the rather lame pre-movie floor-show consisting of a badly scripted, badly acted fight scene between two of the floor security dressed in black suits, fighting over who gets to seat the pretty lady who entered late. Pokey Tongue Icon But hey, kudos on the free ice-creams and flavoured water!

Now, to the movie. After the utter shambles 'McG' made of 'Terminator: Salvation' I frankly found myself quite impressed at the come-back. The 3 years of doing no directing seems to have brought about a change in perspective... and I like the results!

With lots of action - to keep the chaps happy - and some good tension-fueled romantic moments - for the ladies - and plenty of comedy - covering both gender bases - this movie really does have something for everyone, and it was inspired to have special screenings on Valentine's Day because... well... it just really did fit well.

Overall, I was very impressed. On the smaller details - underneath the comedy and explosions, the plot was thin and predictable, and I am not too sure if Reese was the right one for the role - a bit too ditsy in places making me wonder if this was the same character from the "Legally Blonde" franchise - interspersed with some steely cynical moments that were almost jarring by comparison... but it is very clear the casting agents COULD have chosen much worse. But you know what, by the end of the movie I just didn't care any more, I was too busy enjoying it. Well worth seeing, especially if your normal Movie Night starts with someone having to admit defeat and agree to sit through a movie they don't really want to see. This one might just be the one you can both enjoy.
