Product reviews...
The Franz Ferdinand limited edition comes in a two cd set, although the majority of the songs are on one disk. There are a total of 14 tracks, 11 of which are on the first cd and 3 on the other. I'm not sure the reason for this, it seems a little strange to have just 3 songs on one cd.
This is a good band with some great songs. My favourites from the album are number 3 'take me out' and number 4 'the dark of the matinee'. Unfortunately not all the songs were up to standard for me. After the first few songs I was quite enjoying it and was expecting more good songs to come but no other songs really stuck out for me, too bad.
I didnt let this get me down, overall I'd say it was quite a good job from the Franz Ferdinand guys.
Top effort.
Well, despite being based in Glasgow (Scotland), these four guys did it the Kiwi way... start out by just sort of drifting together, shuffling around til they found their niches within the band, then went hell-for-shoeleather into the music scene and took it by storm! With Alex and Nick singing, Bob on bass and Paul on drums, these young guns are really making a lot of heads turn.
With their self-titled album taking the UK charts by surprise and reaching #3 on their debut, they have breathed some new life into the rock genre.
With flavours of Pseudo Echo, Talking Heads, The Cure and even something similar to Supergrass, you're going to really start dancing to this music, especially the first released single off this album, "Take Me Out". Which is kind of good, because the band's main goal... "to make music girls will dance to." Hey guys, we *ALL* danced to it... not just the girls. That's got to count as a good thing, really.
Overall, this one was a really pleasant surprise. If this is the new wave of music coming out of the UK, let me drown in it. Right up there with "The Music" (Yes, it's a band from the UK, similar recipe, different cake) I would rate this highly indeed. And if this is just the beginning, the future holds some really exciting new sounds. Looking forward to it!
