The Magic School Bus - Discovering Bugs product reviews

Butterfly and the Bog Beast
When the class needs a new mascot for their soccer team, Phoebe suggests "butterflies", because they're quick and elusive. But everyone else thinks they're wimpy. Arnold's visiting "know-it-all" cousin, Janet, suggests a "bog beast" instead. Ms Frizzle seizes the opportunity, and a field trip to a bog shows just how tricky - and unwimpy - butterflies can be.

Gets Ants in Its Pants
The Magic School Bus goes into show business when Keesha directs a movie about social animals for the school fair. The class visits the inside of an anthill to observe their "characters" at close range and discovers that each ant performs a job vital to the survival of the colony.

This DVD is the coolist one I've seen yet because it has more action in it and taught me lots about insects. I learned that ants communicate with each other by smell, and they wear pheromones that let the other ants know that they are one of them, and I learned that butterflies can fool their enemies by camouflage, and that they can scare you with their wings because they have patterns that look like scary faces.
I think that it was pretty cool, but it would have been nice if the producer could fill in more details, but for a 30 minute show, it's understandable.
In episode 2: Gets Ants In It's Pants, it got a bit annoying that Carlos was joking a bit too much, but other than that it was nice.
I'm giving this DVD a rating of 10, so if you buy this and want to watch it immediately, I guarantee that you will not be disappointed.

Butterfly and the Bog Beast: When the class need a new mascot for their soccer team, Ms. Frizzle takes the class on a field trip to show the children how unwimpy butterflies are.

Janet, Arnold's cousin, is determined to make everyone think butterflies are wimpy and that a Bog Beast is more suited to the mascot role. Along comes another field trip, to the swamp! Hence the Magic School Bus turns in to a boat.

The class finds out the life cycle of bugs, caterpillars get eaten by praying mantis, that's if it doesn't act like a snake.

Butterflies show the class just how illusive they are. And so the butterfly becomes the mascot.

Get Ants in Its Pants is where the class goes on a field trip about ants. Keesha wants to direct a movie. However after a few mishaps the class come together to help Keesha out in the making of the movie.

The class find out what type of ants there are, from the Queen ant who lays all the eggs to the forager ants who provide room for the ants to the builder ants that of course do all the building. This episode is full of puns for adults to associate with.

All in all a great dvd that my 3 yr old adores. I do believe she doesn-t quite understand the concept fully as yet but it wont be long before she does.
