Eye-popping action and mind-blowing science fiction clash head-on in this hard-edged thriller, where the only rule is survival. In the darkly futuristic world of Babylon A.D., the rules are simple: kill or be killed.

Hard-hitting action superstar Vin Diesel, stars as Toorop, a ruthless mercenary hired to smuggle a mysterious young woman from the post-apocalyptic confines of Eastern Europe to the glittering megalopolis of New York City.

A mercenary making his money smuggling things from one place to another gets hired to transport a young woman from a convent in a cold desolate area in Russia to the USA. Like always, smuggling is a dangerous business. And as always, smuggling live people is even more dangerous.

Part action sequences, part message, part unexplained background. This film has some good portions of the first, but too much of the last if you ask me. It would have been better if they added about 30 minutes and explained some of the 'current' state of the Earth and gave some more background to the various characters. That in itself though does not make it bad. Not at all.

Most of the film is in fact pretty decent. It is easy to watch, easy to follow and most of it makes a tiny bit of sense, just enough to be interesting really. It isn't great though. It doesn't stand out from the crowd in any way and that is simply because it forgets to explain some of its background and that is a damned shame.
