The Indian cuisine is as diverse as its culture, language, regions and its climate. Every major region of India brings its own unique dishes and subtle variations to popular dishes. Aromatic spices are the essence of Indian cuisine. Use of particular spices such as Coriander, Cumin, Fenugreek, Asafoetida etc., give Indian food its distinct flavour. The cooking skill lies in the subtle blending of the variety of spices to enhance the basic flavour of a particular dish.
The Chefs of Indian 2Nite come straight from India where they have proven themselves from experience in large hotels. The restaurant has a dine-in, takeaway & delivery service, specialising in authentic Northern India cuisine.

Indian 2Nite, situated on George Street, was previously known as India Today. A change of owners and a change of name, but they didn-t bother to update their website to reflect the name change hence some confusion when ringing to book and not being able to find India Today in the phone book! Luckily a friend of mine knew what had happened, and explained to me that Indian 2Nite was indeed, India Today. Confused yet?
I was. I rang to book a table for 10, for a work dinner. The language barrier made this difficult though ™ I had to repeat myself countless times as the gentleman on the other end of the phone kept mishearing me. He was lovely though, and trying hard to understand. In the end we got there and we were all set to turn up one Thursday night.
We were all seated, and introduced to complementary poppadums, a nice touch! We browsed the menu while drinks orders were taken. There is quite a nice range of dishes, ranging from the ever popular and 'safe- butter chicken, to a more adventurous sounding venison curry. There are quite a few lamb curries also, which sounded great. Even those who don-t like curry are catered for here too ™ there is a steak meal and also a chicken nuggets and chips option for the kids.
We waited about 25 minutes for our mains to come out. Probably an average wait. Each of our curries were served in small individual funky looking bowls, which looked really modern and much more exciting than just slopping the curry on a plate! Big bowls of rice to share amongst the table were also provided. The amount given turned out to be just enough, and the waitresses asked halfway through if we needed a top up ™ we didn-t. Great service. On first glance into your curry bowl, it doesn-t look like a lot, but I tell you ™ everybody ended up absolutely full to the brim! It was a great portion size, and good value for money.
All dishes are available in mild, medium or hot. Only one of us was brave enough to order hot, with the rest of us being medium. Judging by the amount of water the 'hot- curry eater was drinking and by his expression, I think it was pretty hot!
Most of us also ordered naan bread. Indian 2Nite have a great selection of different flavours. I decided to go all out and get the garlic and cheese naan ™ great choice, it was packed full of melty cheese and garlic, delicious. I stuffed the last half in because it was so tasty, even though I was ready to burst by this stage.
My chicken korma was great too ™ loads of tender chicken swimming in a creamy, buttery, medium heat sauce. It tasted wonderful.
The only complaints of the night were of being so full we could hardly walk! Everybody really enjoyed their meals and the service was great too. Great job guys.
The only hassle with this place is parking. Down busy George Street, it can be quite a task to find a spare park. After such a huge meal though, a hike to your car is probably a good thing.
