The start right work books are awesome. They are well set out and cover so many great and interesting topics. My daughter has been using them to complement her existing curriculum but I can see that on their own they would be more than enough.
The english starts off with Listening skills which I thought was great because so many children (and adults) have no listening skills. And we can learn anything if we learn to listen. It also covers many other aspects of Oral language too. It then moves onto Written language, words have different jobs, to dictionary use and even visual language like reading warning signs.
The mathematics is full of cool cartoon characters and many different ways of getting the information across to the child. The concepts are well explained and then an example is given. It is set out in an interesting and easily understood fashion. My daughter is enjoying maths!!
The Year 3 science is good, it touches on the subjects just enough to get the child interested and then expands on it the following year. The topics range from space, landforms, to weather and how to care for the world. Animals, trees, solids and liquids to floating and sinking and many more. Again there are interesting cartoon diagrams and the topics are explained simply.
The homework book is great for general knowledge and the kids cant get far into it without learning some interesting fact. It also gets them thinking, writing and doing some maths. Great layout and interesting to look at too.
A+++ for start right. If I can think of improvements I will let you know but so far I cant. Great job.
