I have been a fan of Seagate drives for many years and I have owned/used/tested a fair few of them, from a lowly 40MB in my first PC (No I haven't got that wrong I did say 40MB Smile Icon) to this current 750GB monster. Now while this is a generation old being a 7200.10 as opposed to the new 7200.11 generation drives, this is still a good solid and fast performer.

So i've had this beast in my test rig for the past 5 weeks and I have been thrashing it to see how it handles things and I am mightly impressed. First off this thing barely breaks a sweat even when i'm taxing it with alot of file opening/closing and copying and moving, it stayed at a steady 46?. Next was the data transfer tests and well Seagate were once again bang on, I had a Maximum Read Transfer Rate of 78 MB/s and a Sustained Read Transfer Rate of 74.5 MB/s. On the Writing side of the house I got a Maximum Write Transfer Rate of 73 MB/s and a Sustained Write Transfer Rate of 65.3 MB/s overall. Not too shabby at all.

I decided to do one last test and I compared this to my current 250GB 7200.10 IDE, and I was pleasantly surprised to find that it beat my 250GB by at least 10 MB/s faster in all respects so this is one superb drive and well priced as well, especially if you're trying to build a PC on a budget.

Yet another great product from one of the leaders in Hard Drive technology.
