Uncle Ben's Express rice takes just 2 minutes in a microwave, or around 3 minutes in a saucepan.
Gently steamed in a microwave-safe pouch for maximum freshness and flavour. Easy to open, quick to cook, great tasting and no washing up afterwards!

This was the first of these microwave rice sides i had tried and i was dubious the first time. I thought it maybe dry and hard, or way too soft and soggy. I like my rice cooked perfect! I was pleasantly surprised.
My Nan had brought these along to a pot luck dinner to accompany her beef stroganof (not what i would team Basmati with, but any how!) They were so easy to prepare with no mess - no sticky pots or bulky rice cookers to clean and put away. So the ease of use with these gets 10/10 for me.
This is an expensive luxury item in my opinion. Great for lunches and cheaper than take out - but still, the traditional way is so much cheaper, i could buy 1kg of rice for the same price as this small packet. But if this is in your price range and fits your lifestyle then i believe its a great product. Although its not one i use very often at all.

Yet another brilliant all-rounder from Uncle Ben's, this time it's Basmati Rice. My personal preference for the use of this product is as a compliment to a nice and spicey curry.
I'm not sure why the basmati rice goes so well with curries for me, but I suspect it's the subtle flavouring that this rice has which to me just perfectly compliments the curry to make a wonderful taste sensation.
Basmati is traditionally served with curry, but it's too hot for that at the moment, so we served this with a honey soy chicken stirfry...
Again, easy to cook, no stodgyness or any of the other horrors that can befall badly done rice and with lots of veges in the stirfry, there was enough rice to take some leftovers to work too.
I was interested to see how the rice stood up to the test of having the juices of the stirfry soaking over night and being reheated...
And I was impressed
There was no lose of structural integrity, the rice was still tasty and good!
Well done Uncle Ben's!
I guess we have all been in that situation where we need extra rice in a hurry - either because we've forgotten to cook any; or maybe because we've had an extra guest and not enough rice or simply because we want something ready in well under 5 minutes.
Uncle Ben's Express Rice comes to hand supplying a heat and eat king of the rice: Basmati.
Rip the top and nuke for 2 minutes and serve - how simple is that? Handy for that left over curry when you shoot home for lunch and need the extra top-up.
I feel that the Express Rice range of products is a very useful store cupboard for those express moments!
