Well, I got my wish - volume four arrived and I didn't have to wait THAT long for it. At this rate, we will see further volumes being added to Hancock range of DVDs maybe in time for Christmas (well, I can hope and drop hints) or very shortly after - either way, I will be getting unbearably impatient about the wait.
I also got my second (unvoiced) wish - that an entire series will come out rather than just selections from it. I guess the BBC wanted to gauge public opinion before releasing all material stashed away in their archives. And who can blame them - but for the Hancock fans (and the fans of Galton and Simpson and Classic English comedy) the wait has been worth it.

As mentioned in the product description, this is the last series in which Sid James ever starred - and we know James went on to develop a very successful career, whereas just a few short years later, Hancock , tormented by his demons, chose to end his life; depriving an army of fans of his comic genius.

Galton and Simpson are at their comic best writing this series (as they always were) and their scripts were perfect for Tony Hancock - whose incredible sense of comic timing and a taste for perfect comedy could turn banal scripts into works of art. Together (with Sid James and a host of co-stars) worked magic that could stop an entire nation to watch each weekly offering.

Long lamented that the series were only ever shown occasionally after their initial showing; the fans can now cling to the hope that with every series being released - their addiction will be fed.
