In my efforts to become even somewhat decent at anything artistic, I am forever trying to extend my "creative library", and spotting this book, I figured it wouldn-t hurt to add yet another one to the constantly growing collection. What stood out first with YOU CAN DRAW was the way it was made... with the spiral binding and being able to turn its cover into a stand, it made me think of an easel, and made it easy to follow the lessons throughout the book, even while working on sketches or whatever, without having to fiddle around trying to find a way to keep it propped up!! While filled with useful information - on things like: how you should be sitting, tips on basic drawing equipment, carrying a sketchbook, basic techniques and bits of information needed to make learning to draw an easier task - I really didn-t find anything in this book that made it stand out from the many MANY other art books out there trying to explain the same things!! Yes, the lessons were well detailed and easy to follow, with a picture at the end of the finished work; yes it was easy to take with me and set up work anywhere with its own built-in stand; yes it covered most areas of interest when it comes to artÂ- but all in all, I found it to simply be just another art book, nothing particularly interesting. I admit that it would be a good book to consider purchasing if you don-t already have any "how-to" art books at home, but if you already have a couple, I wouldn-t recommend getting this one, as you-ll more than likely find the information contained here tucked away in the books you already have.

Modern science has unravelled the mystery of life, seen back to the dawn of time, and peered down into the wierd world of quantum mechanics. Small wonder then that people now look to science to answer ... more...
