OH BABY! Due to medical advice, it has been a while since I have eaten anything spicier than a tomato sandwich with a bit of pepper and salt, but after noticing only the most minor of tummy-tingles after having a meal at a local speciality restaurant I simply had to try this new offering from the pizza-gurus at Domino's... and was it worth the wait or what!
As I opened the box lid, I found myself drooling from the smell, and crying from the cloud of spicy steam that shot out and into my face... I was SO looking forward to wrapping my laughing gear around a wedge of this pizza... but being the good host I offered it around to my guests first... only to discover that no-one else was really keen for it... they had their eyes on other flavours... heathens!
However, resigning myself to having the whole delightful dish to myself, I grabbed a piece of Cheesy Garlic Bread before it vanished under the onslaught of grasping hands, and tucked into my dinner... After the relatively 'quiet' flavour of the Meat Pie Pizza I was very taken with the creep-up-on-ya-tastebuds spice of this one. The first few bites seem to be nothing more than a mildly Cajun flavour, but then the 'heat' starts to kick in and by the end of the first slice you can sure tell you are eating something with a bit of kick.
Overall, though I picked out all of the olives, because they just aren't my bag, baby, I found the flavour delightful, though a little light on the chook meat for my tastes. We ordered it on a classic crust, but ended up getting it on Thin-n-Crispy, but that didn't detract from the flavour at all really... if anything I think it made it more noticable, because there was no doughy taste to interfere. Another winner in my book, and one I hope they consider keeping on the menu, or at least re-running later down the track as the winter really sinks it's teeth in.
