Parking is scarce in this area of busy Fitzherbert Ave, but luckily we managed to find a spot right outside.
We walked inside, and saw most tables filled with people either waiting to eat, or eating. A full house is usually a good sign! I was pleased to see an 'A- grade rating here. All cooking and prep is done in full view of the customers. We had a look over the menu, which was positioned on the wall and a little hard to read as people kept walking in front of it (it is at eye level).
There is definitely a great variety here! I was really impressed with the vegetarian burgers too ™ really different and inventive ideas. We finally chose what we wanted ™ one 'Bacon Backfire- (chicken fillet, bacon, brie, salad, relish, aioli) and one 'Ford Freakout- (1/3 pound ground beef, bacon, avo, salad, relish, aioli). Along with a side of spud fries and aioli.
Gotta love the quirky names they have for their burgers!!!
Prices vary for each burger, but most are around the $8-$9 mark. Believe me though, it is money well spent! You can also order from their new 'lightweight menu-, which are a selection of smaller burgers, at a slightly smaller price.
We placed our order with the very polite cashier and sat down to wait (plenty of waiting area). I filled out an application for a Burgerfuel VIP card which I waited ™ you receive a free burger on your birthday apparently so great incentive to join!
After about 15 minutes our number was called and we collected our food to takeaway. The burgers were wrapped in neat packaging ™ brown paper bags with the burger-s name stamped on the bag. Very cool! The fries ™ delicious, not greasy at all and were served in a paper chip cup, with just enough aioli.
The burgers. Both burgers tasted fantastic. The buns (all dairy free) were fresh, and had sesame seeds on both the top and bottom, something I haven-t seen before! Fillings were perfectly fresh and great quality. The avocado used on the Ford Freakout was plentiful, and good quality. Plenty of brie on the Bacon Backfire.
Basically, an excellent gourmet burger outlet which I cannot fault. My new favourite in Palmy Nth.
