I'm normally not much of a game fan, but loving all things fantasy as I do, I had to at least give Dragonology a try. Having so far only played it as a 2-player game, I've found it to be extremely enjoyable, easy to understand and follow, and it had me wanting to start up a new game as soon as the first one had finished!! Because of not being much of a game player, the whole strategy side of it was kind of lost on me, but considering how easy it was to play, I don't think it'll take that long at all before I start picking up that side of it... although, admittedly, it would definitely work better with a few more players.
This is definitely a game suited to both old and young... and everyone in between... and will be one that makes a regular appearance on the few occasions that I actually play games.

Never having read the book, I had no idea what to expect. It didn't take me long to read through the rules, and realise that it was going to be a lot of fun. First impressions were good, the board was quite large with small travel spaces, making for long and short journeys between key points, allowing time to plan strategies, but there were ways to make large trips almost instantly thanks to the 'Air Travel' Travel Tickets.

3 games in a row later, and I was starting to see some really effective ways to kick some butt... at least in a 2-player game. With only one opponent to deal with, it became easier to play the player, rather than play the game. I would think that a 4 player game, or even a 6 player game, would introduce a lot more complication and require some serious strategic planning to get a shot at winning. After all, there are only 9 dragons on the board, and so to master 3, and keep them, becomes a lot harder when the 4th player sits down to play.

Games can be quick... as short as half an hour, but the really good games can take quite a bit longer. The game is simple enough in most regards that young children can have a blast playing it, but there can be a high level of strategic play involved if it's just adults playing it. Quite an enjoyable game in all aspects. My personal highlight would have to be the array of dragon models... there were a couple I wasn't aware of... and for a self-admitted dragon nut, that's saying something.
