We were wandering around on our Wellington Day Trip, and had jumped onto a random bus after leaving the Botanical Gardens, and ended up in Marsden Village, taking a quick lunchstop before heading back to the Wildlife Sanctuary. After having a good look over the heavily laden menu, we ended up choosing their $10 Fish Meal, which comprised 3 pieces of battered fish, 2 scoops of chips and a hotdog. This was all we could decide on, with the promised smorgasbord being cold and empty, devoid even of a sign it had been used recently.

After a reasonably short wait, considering there were about 4 customers who turned up to collect orders that had been phoned in, we were presented with our paper-wrapped bundle and headed out to sit in the sun on a bench conveniently located near the bus stop. Within a few bites we knew we had made a bad choice. Though the chips were actually very good, better than most in fact, the fish was quite greasy and had the slightly metallic taste of low-grade fillets, and the hotdog was an overcooked disaster, tasting as though the sausage was slightly past it's best-by date when it was thawed.

Overall, if you are stuck in the area, you might want to avoid the meat options, and either stick to having some of the best chips I have tried in over a year, or have a shot at some of the freshly-cooked chinese dishes... they would have to work really hard to ruin them, methinks.
