Butter Chicken, well it has to be top on my list whether its at the local food hall or just takeaways so i really think my opinion is a valued one . So when i came across a Butter Chicken Maketu Pie at a out of town service station , i just couldnt help myself . I just had to have one . The taste was to die for ten out of ten , the contents was full of real chunky chicken and chock a block full of flavour once again ten out of ten . The pasty was a little flaky and messy but did taste pretty good , and value for money well i called back in on the way home for another , so i can honestly recommend one of these pies to any one
Ever since I gave Butter Chicken a try at a local curry retailer a few years ago, I have been hooked. Whenever my stomach will let me, I indulge my passion for this delightful dish. So it was with great interest that I got a shot at these pies, one of the newest in the Maketu range.
I wasn't 100% sure which cooking method I should go with, but because the Maketu's pastry has mostly held up well under nuking, and I don't like a dry pie, I went with slapping it onto the microwave for around 2 minutes at 50-60% power... I always prefer a longer, slower cooking to avoid scorched rim and frozen center. Once again, this tactic worked a treat.
When complete, I decided to serve this pie on a plate with a side-dish of pasta, and then I bit into curry heaven... the pastry was flakey but not falling apart in a hail of dust as some do. The filling was full of flavour but not too spicy, which made it nigh on perfect for me.
Overall, this one is SO close to beating out the Steak & Cheese as my all-time favourite...
