Being a beginner Â"artistÂ", I am always on the lookout for books that can help me to improve my artistic skills, including cartooning. So the Cartoon Studio definitely looked worth checking out. A nice looking little kit, the double ended pens, along with the cool little wiggly eyes it came with and the handy sized sketchpad were definitely useful extras, but I will admit to being slightly disappointed with the book itself. The explanations of techniques etc were rather minimal, containing only the most basic of information, which would be fine for someone who was already gaining a bit of confidence in their abilities, but not all that good for someone only just starting out in cartooning.
However, the Â"Mad maskÂ" and Â"MobileÂ" projects that I found in the back were easy enough to follow, and fun to try. OverallÂ- not the greatest of cartooning books I-ve come across, but not the worst either.
