The only thing that I found that this was good for, price wise, was the speed of heating it up, and that it didn't need to be transferred into anything in order to heat it up.
I found that when it came to the taste, it wasn't strong enough, and that I needed to add salt to it to add more flavour to it. As for portions, it would only be enough for me, so if I was to feed the family I would need to buy a couple of extra packs, and for the price, it's just not worth it. And the sauce, I found that, as one does due to variations in microwave make and model etc, that when I went with the time given to me, the pasta in the middle wasn't heated up, but when I put it in for longer, the sauce got clumpy and not a nice texture at all.
This isn't something I would grab off the shelf, but, if it was on sale at a very cheap price, then I may buy one or two packets for a quick meal for the kids.
I saw these in the supermarket and decided to give them a try. Originally I had picked the pack up for me, but after a disastrous day and faced with two hungry children I whipped them out.
They were a great success, as soon as the packet was opened the aroma was mouth watering, after transferring them into a bowl, they heated quickly in the microwave, and the children were gulping them down, the teenager and the hubby came in smelled the smell and asked for theirs!
There was lots of real meal ingredients that could be seen, and it looked, smelled and tasted like something that someone had gone to a lot of effort to create.
I would definitely buy these again to have in the cupboard, they have a great shelf life, and they are a perfect healthy choice for an instant meal for any of the family!
I was quite surprised to see this on the shelf recently. After my experiences with the delightful Kaweka range I was keen to play the field a bit and see what else had sprung up in the new market.
A medium meal for a hungry single-server, it also goes well as a side dish for two. I served this as a side with some minute steaks seared quickly with some garlic and pepper, and wedges of tomato lightly drizzled with a tartare mayo.
It was a wonderful soft compliment to the bite of the steak, and the garlic crossover flavours allowed them to blend well. The generous sauce also went well with the cool tomato and sharpness of the tartare.
Overall, quite an affordable price. This is a great cupboard stocker, and I will be eyeing the others in the range on future shopping trips. The packets are sturdy and well constructed, giving you peace of mind as to it freshness and shelf-life. The one I bought had 9 months left on it's expiry date, so it's a great one to grab a spare each shopping trip and hold them over to help bulk up that summer BBQ table.
