Heartside Bay #6 Kiss at Midnight product reviews

Welcome to Heartside Bay - for life, love and everything in between...

Lila's life has been going out of control and she can't seem to stop herself. Life in Heartside Bay is miserable. Her friends are worried, but she shrugs them off. With her grades slipping, her parents decide to hire a personal tutor. Lila's furious. That is, until it turns out to be Josh: sweet, geeky, gorgeous Josh. Why hasn't Lila seen it before? He's been right in front of her all along, and he's exactly what she's looking for.

This book was bitter-sweet for me. I have been waiting so long to read about Lila again, especially after the previous book. I had been imagining what would happen between Lila and Josh considering there were kissing last time but with this book there was no mention of that. I was rather depressed for most of it as Lila is completely consumed with guilt over Ryans death and that is all she can think about. She feels why should she get to live and enjoy life when he no longer can. She completely believes the death was her fault because he was showing off for her.

I also was hoping to read more about Polly and Ollie relationship or find out about the love triangle with Rhi, Max and Brody or find out what is really going on with Eves father but really it is just about Lilas emotions. It was darker than most of the books and really examines how a teen feels about life, friends and family. Her acting out towards her parents and pushing people who care about her away.

It was an okay read and I guess it was one that needed to be explained. I still managed to read under three hours, a nice fast read. I love the way Cathy Cole writes and it is definitely a book you can relate to. A fantastic series, just hope she gets back on point in the next book. Definitely left on a note of wanting to find out what will happen next. Hoping everyone ends up happily ever after.
