This is classic British comedy in slapstick format. Think Monty Python for the non-wierd. Think upmarket Two Ronnies, plus 2. Think Rowan Atkinson, Mel Smith, Griff Rhys Jones, and our own darling Pamela Stephenson, wife to the King of roughest Scotish humour, Billy Connolly.

These four folks banded together in the mid-70's to form a new era of comedy, exploring new areas of wit and satire, with some blatant, almost American humour to add a bit of variety and spice to the otherwise quite dry humour of our Colonial Motherland.

Not having seen a lot of NtNON in it's hey-day, I was quite taken with the chance to see some now, with a fresh perspective and some more educated wits. And I was impressed... this is some really good stuff. Of a similar era to "The Young Ones", but with a smoother 'taste', I was quite taken with these fresh-faced comedic-trailblasers.

Overall, there is some great laughs in here, and if you like British wit, or jokes that don't just slap you with a fish and start laughing, this could be well worth investigating. I was quite entertained, and it has earned it's rightful place between the Billy Connolly and the the full Monty Python Collection.

Product reviews for listing 459: Michael King - History Man -  Type of Show: Documentary

Product image for Michael King - History ManHistory Man, a feature length documentary, follows in the steps of Michael King on a journey through his own past - to childhood places where the sense of New Zealand and his own New Zealand-ness first struck him, and to the places his work steered him and the incredible people he met along the way.

His ability to cross cultural boundaries and delve deep into sometimes controversial areas greatly enriched New Zealand's recorded history. His tragic death early in 2004 was an enormous loss to this country.
