Heartstopper: Volume Three product reviews

Boy meets boy. Boys become friends. Boys fall in love. An LGBTQ+ graphic novel about life, love, and everything that happens in between.

Charlie didn't think Nick could ever like him back, but now they're officially boyfriends. Nick's even found the courage to come out to his mum. But coming out isn't just something that happens once - there's Nick's older brother, and a school trip to Paris, not to mention all the other friends and family - and life can be hard, even with someone who loves you by your side.

As their feelings for each other get more serious, Charlie and Nick will need each other more than ever before. Heartstopper is about love, friendship, loyalty and mental illness. It encompasses all the small stories of Nick and Charlie's lives that together make up something larger, which speaks to all of us.

My 14 year old fell in love with Heartstopper after watching the first season on Netflix, and then getting the first two books as a prezzie. Naturally I ended up buying her the next two in the series for Christmas last year, which she was delighted with, but Iā ™ve only just sat down to read them after the second season came out on Netflix and has already been rewatched half a dozen times. I actually found myself enjoying the first two in the series, so with a bit of quiet time, I figured why not read the next one? āœOh. Youā ™re being gay. Good job, carry onā. Nick and Charlie are growing as a couple and dealing with your usual high school drama and the added drama that comes from being different.

Again, big topics are brought up in this series. We have an eating disorder touched upon and a homophobe apologizing and expecting things to just be OK (I love that the character was able to stand up and state that they did not need to give forgiveness or be ambushed into accepting an apology). The LGBT+ characters just keep on popping up in this series and I love it. At this point Iā ™m not actually sure who, in the list of characters we know by name, isnā ™t bi, gay, trans or whatever. I will be reading book number four in the series, and I think by this point that Iā ™m just going to have to give up and watch it come to life on my TV screen.

Product image for The Rain Wild Chronicles #1 - The Dragon KeeperGuided by the dragon Tintaglia, they came from the sea: a Tangle of serpents fighting their way up the Rain Wild River, the first to make the perilous journey in generations.

For Thymara, a Rainwilder born with scales and claws, the return of dragons symbolises the return of hope to her war-torn world. Leftrin, captain of the liveship Tarman, also has an interest in the hatching; as does Bingtown newlywed, Alise Finbok, who ... more...
