Having already reviewed the cool white Value LED bulb, I wondered if I could elaborate any further on the use and practicability of these bulbs but after some thought I realised that there was definitely more to say.

The warm white colour is softer and more yellower than it's 'sister' bulb cool white, so more suitable to bedrooms and living rooms. I installed the bulb in my bedside lamp and I really liked the colour of the light, it was perfect to leave on to read under or to turn on when you have to get up to go the toilet in the night, somehow I think it's going to take me quite some time to chew up 15,000 hrs that the packet says it will last for though and that can't be a bad complaint at a great price of $4.99 each.

These bulbs are such a great invention and the in fact that you do not even have to change any of your existing light fittings to use them is such a great saving, lighting has certainly come a long way from the days of incandescent then onto fluorescent, then hot halogen's, and new energy efficient LED. So after the initial outlay per bulb, you home will be well lit for maybe even years to come without the need to replace them, while using much less electricity, it's a no brainer really...go and buy these now!

Light bulbs are generally not something I put too much thought into, the bulb dies and I just grab whatever is cheapest at the supermarket to replace it but I must admit on a new budget any amount of savings I can make are important so led bulbs are a great option to cutting down that power bill. I have a smart meter at my house so I could track power usage and I have noticed a significant change in power usage from using the led bulb in comparison to the cheap old bulbs I used to have fitted.

So although you initially out lay more money buying these led style bulbs the savings you will see long term in your power usage will more than offset this! Lets face it saving money and reducing power usage is so important to the average family. I love that these are just like your standard light bulbs so could just screw into the same fittings for simple installation. We are gradually replacing all the bulbs in the house as a result of seeing how efficient these bulbs are.

This particular bulb was a warm white which I found perfect in the bedroom with a new baby and getting up in the night I need a light in the bedroom and this provides a great level of light but a level that is not too harsh on tired eyes as they adjust from darkness to light during the night feeds. I have put this in a wall fitting with frosted shade which makes it give off less of a harsh light further so I am loving it for a bedroom light and would definitely use the warm bulbs for bedrooms and lamps in living spaces.

Spending most of my year living in a caravan, drawing power from a megabattery array or a petrol-powered generator, not wasting power is a big thing for me, and my boss. If I draw down too much juice the boss docks my pay to cover the extra costs so I try to stay under budget if I can. Over winter that can be tough because I need light to see and cook by so having switched both bulbs inside the caravan to LEDs thanks to KIWIreviews I was able to show the boss just how good they are to have.

My caravan has two bulbs, one at the end that has my bed and the other down by the kitchen and dining area. Since I had a warm and a cool bulb to test I put this one down at the bedroom end so it would help me relax at night. It worked really well. No better or worse than the older style bulb which was glows a warm yellowish-orange colour though. This means that as far as I was concerned there was no real difference except the really significant power draw reduction.

After 3 weeks, I told the boss and showed him the meter readings. He was really impressed by how efficient they were and has since replaced the bulbs in all of the on-site buildings, especially the portable office and coffee room units. He told me the other day how much he welcomed the proof and told me I have the freedom to try any new gadgets for review if I think they could prove good for the budgets, and he also shouted me a paid day of extra leave as a thanks because he reckons what it cost to pay me for a day and buy all the bulbs is still less than he's going to save in a month by switching out all the bulbs from the cheap old glow bulbs that come for something around a buck a pop in the supermarkets.

So LED bulbs are the smart way to go... and have been since they first hit the marketplace many years back. However, in the early days, the technology wasn't mature, and the scale of demand meant that the production costs reflected the huge R&D budget required to find not only cost-effective but also efficient production methods. Now that the state of the art has reached this level, and more of the big manufacturers have jumped on board to service the common market, not just the luxury market, the pricetags on the shelves are finally looking far less scary.

While still five to ten times more expensive than the old, inefficient, power-hungry incandescent bulbs that our great-grandparents would still feel at home with, the cost is far more than offset by the reduction in power these bulbs will use in any given patch of time. Also take into account that even in the short time since these bulbs were listed, many stores are offering these very bulbs even cheaper - some as low as $3.99. Ka-Ching! Even more savings!

So, plugging this bulb into the portable lamp by the testing workstation, I fired up the light-meter built into my Logitech Solar keyboard and as you can see it shows a very respectable amount of light at a distance of 60cm from the sensor - more than triple the ambient light. Being a 'warm' white with a distinctly yellow-orange tint to it, this is not a suitable bulb for a working area where a 'cool white' would be more effective at assisting concentration and alertness. This bulb would be ideal for in a bedroom though, or even a bathroom, where relaxation and soothing light would be more appropriate.

Because this is now a very mature technology, there's no need for any fancy adaptors or hardware, these bulbs are just as plug-n-play as your regular bulbs, meaning it would be a matter of minutes to swap out your entire house and see your next month's power bill plummet.

Overall, if it weren't for the fact that I have already converted my entire house to LEDs, I'd be overjoyed at the cost and functionality of these bulbs. As it is, they will be excellent spares. One thing to note though - these are very clearly stated to be used indoors only - they are not suited to outdoors usage because I'm betting they aren't entirely watertight. There are outdoor-suitable bulbs on the market, but not at this low price-point.

I decided to use the Value warm white bayonet cap light bulb on the wall 60cm above the bed. It isn't a huge room to illuminate, but the warm light was enough light to be usable for reading comfortably without a horrible glare. It didn't get hot after a prolonged amount of time like other normal light bulbs do which meant it was safe for our 2 girls to be on the bed also which was always a concern for me, particularly with the 2-year-old.

The packaging suited the Value (aka old Budget) brand perfectly! It's simple, yet effective and no fancy packaging or unnecessary wastage of extra card or plastic. The light bulbs were still all safe and snug in their little cardboard boxes and what looked and felt like minimal movement able to be made. They were easy to remove from the packaging, and just as easy as any 'normal' light bulb to install.

We don't have fittings over our light bulbs, but the light bulb looked like a normal one as opposed to the spiral bulbs which stick out like anything on fittings like these. It matched in well with the Philips bulb it was next to. We will be replacing all bulbs with these Value ones as they blow though, and it will be interesting to see how long they last also as I've had varying lengths of life from energy saving light bulbs. Often I found the more expensive ones for us blew quicker! At $5 a piece, it's an easy answer to whether I'd buy these again...absolutely!

When I was was a little girl I thought that light bulbs were all the same, however, it wasn't until I needed to replace a bulb that I soon realized this was simply not the case. I am ashamed to say that trying to fit a bayonet bulb in a screw fitting wasn't my best moment. Nowadays there are fluorescent bulbs, LED (Light Emitting Diodes) bulbs, to name a couple. Since the price of power in our region seems to be getting more expensive, our household has decided to be proactive in trying to save electricity, which will mean lower price bills. LED bulbs are more expensive than standard light bulbs, but I believe that the cost is outweighed by the savings.

I had requested to review a warm white LED bulb which came in simple packaging, but the blue writing on the white box really made it stand out. It was very easy to distinguish that the box was for a bayonet fitting and was an 8.5W bulb. I decided to put this bulb into one of the bedrooms. The bulb was easy to remove from the packaging and to install. The room previously had a cool white bulb and my daughter had complained it was too bright and hurt her eyes at times. After showing her the light once it had been changed, she was happier and hasn't complained any more about the brightness. With this bulb being more energy efficient I no longer worry if my daughter falls asleep with the light on.

I think depending on how long the bulb lasts for that I will replace my other bedroom and living room bulbs with these. At $4.99 they are affordable and will definitely help in keeping our power prices down. I will be doing some research to see if they make larger bulbs for outdoor spotlights too.

When we moved into our house just over 5 years ago one of the first things that my partner wanted to do was to change all of the light bulbs over to LED bulbs as he had heard that in the long run these were a lot more cost efficient in terms of using a lot less power than standard light bulbs, of course I agreed only to find that as LED bulbs were only a relatively new product in the world of light bulbs that these were close to $30 each!!! Needless to say this cost us a fortune, replacing each bulb in the house especially as in the kitchen and 2 lounges alone we have 17 bulbs!!! Luckily they are all still going strong and none have yet to be replaced!

When I saw these Value bulbs up for review, I was very interested to try them out, could a LED bulb possibly be any good at such a cheap price? The answer YES, these bulbs are truly amazing and with the same power wattage of 8.5 as our previous LED bulbs these actually produce a lot more of a brighter light which is fantastic! Being an 8.5w LED means it is equal to a 60w normal light bulb, which in terms of use means that if it was left running running continuously it would last up to 625 days, so as you can see these bulbs aren't going to blow in a hurry and are very value for money in terms of use and the amount you are paying! This is 7x less power than a traditional 60w bulb!!!

As warm white bulbs are meant to provide more of a soft and warm feel to a room than the cool white bulbs they are best for areas such as dining and living rooms, places where one would usually choose to relax. For this reason I decided to place this bulb in above our dining table where we have 2 lights, this bulb produced a lovely amount of light which was white in colour, and it actually looked so much better than the bulbs that were previously there that I actually went out and brought another of these bulbs to put alongside it, at $5 why wouldn't you? Miss 4 will often sit at this table to draw and write and even she said that the new lights were good for working under.

We received the Edison Screw fittings and these were super easy to screw into the light fitting, absolutely no problem at all. I really liked the simplistic design of the bulb, it looks quite good and suits our house well, and although it is bit plainer than some bulbs you can buy which have all sorts of twists and patterns ingrained into them it is actually so much better for the likes of cleaning as there are no groves to dig dirt out of and no homes for spiders to hide in, they are a smooth finish so easy to clean.

I have recommended these bulbs to many at work who have often spoke of getting LED bulbs for there homes, a great product that does what it's meant to at a fraction of the usual price, I will be buying more.

Over the years we have been replacing our old light bulbs with LED bulbs as they have blown. The LED bulbs were all twisty dust collectors and cost much more than conventional bulbs. We bought them because they claimed to use less power (which is fantastic when you are the only one in the house that knows how to turn off lights) and last longer which is means they don't have to be bought as often and the chore of getting up on a step stool to change the bulb is less too.

When I was given the Value brand Warm White bayonet bulb to review I noticed some great differences between this and our other LED bulbs. Firstly it is much cheaper than our old LED bulbs at around $5 it affordable and I don't mind buying a spare for the cupboard in case one one blows. Secondly it is shaped like a traditional bulb so doesn't collect dust the same. It also doesn't hang awkwardly out of the lampshade like some we had.

I didn't know the difference between warm and cool bulbs. I had been told one was for task lighting but couldn't remember which was which so I asked Aunty Google. My research told me that it is really a personal preference. I chose to use this warm bulb as the main light in our bedroom. Our room is only small and we have another light over the bed for reading. I found this bulb was perfect for this and I was able to find what I needed in my chest of drawers, wardrobe and jewelry box.

Personally I prefer the look of these bulbs and will be changing all the bulbs in the house over to these. We had planned on changing the light fittings to modernise our home but one of the new light fittings in our kitchen that is only two years old has stopped working. This will involve us getting a new fitting (and hope we can find one the same to match the other ones in the room) and getting an electrician to install it. Since discovering these Value brand bulbs we are going this way with a modern shade instead.

I was pleased to see that there are now light bulbs available which are both long life and inexpensive. Previously I have paid high prices for bulbs that are supposed to be economical to run and last for years, but have been disappointed in the design. Most of them seem to have trendy twists and loops in the glass which may look pretty but are difficult to clean. I have a small verandah (enclosed) which attracts every kind of insect when the light is on, and of course that means in turn that the spiders move in and get creative with their weaving.

So it has been a delight during these last few days to see the light glowing with so far not a sign of a cobweb to spoil its lines - but even when one does appear it will be so easy to clean it off again. The bulb design is simple and attractive, similar to an old fashioned style of bulb but rounder. Although the verandah is hardly the most aesthetically beautiful part of my home (being a mainly utilitarian back entrance sort of place) it is enhanced considerably by its new lighting and has already been the subject of comment from a friend who noticed it immediately.

Apart from the clean design, I am also impressed by the performance so far. It is much brighter than any other light I have used of similar power (60 watt equivalent), and, unlike others, it reaches full strength immediately. I am used to a delay in the timing so it is rewarding, to find that there is a good quality light as soon as the switch is turned on. Being an impatient sort of person, I like things to happen when I am ready and in this respect the light certainly delivers.

I will be interested to see how long the bulb lasts. The package states that it has a 15,000 hour life so I have worked out that it should last me around two years if I have it on continuously the whole time. But the reality is that I would probably have it on for a maximum of two hours a day in winter, and rarely in summer. At that rate it will probably outlive me so it will be something my children may have to monitor! Either way it is an intriguing thought. (Incidentally, an LED bulb I paid around $12 for a couple of years ago and which was supposed to last a similar length of time was burned out in around 11 months.)
