Captain Underpants and the Perilous Plot of Professor Poopypants Colour Edition (#4) product reviews

George and Harold are fourth-grade buddies with a penchant for practical jokes. When the boys' latest prank drives their science teacher over the edge, their clueless principal, Mr. Krupp, quickly hires a replacement: Professor Pippy P. Poopypants. Of course, George and Harold can't resist making fun of the Professor's silly name. But then the Professor retaliates by forcing everyone in town to change their own names to be equally silly, with colossal consequences!

Miss 9 has been a huge fan of the Captain Underpants series of books for a really long time now, and she has not yet been dissapointed by any. Of course this one was no exception. For a kid, any kid, anything with poopypants in the title is going to be a guaranteed hit anyway. How can it not be right? You know it is going to be funny, interesting, comical for sure!

She must have carted the book around for a good week and a half, reading and re-reading, as she often does when she has a favourite book for the week. She encouraged every family member and every visitor to our home to give themselves a new 'silly name' reading bits of the book to anyone who would listen, in order to justify the importance of everyone having a new name for the day.

We love that the books come in a hard cover option, and this is our preferred, because we know they are going to be very well read by all of our children. The small rrp is also very much worth it. Some books are really quite expensive when your child reads them once and never picks up again. You do not have that problem with this or any other Captain Underpants books, because they are so well received. Kids relate to the humour within, the silliness, the great illustrations, the dialogue being written in a manner that kids understand and 'get'. And it is this, that makes them a hit with the kids.

My miss seven absolutely loves the Captain Underpants books and they have become a book of choice for her to read with her dad. Miss five likes listening to the books also and both really enjoy the illustrations. This hardback edition has beautiful glossy pages full of fantastic illustrations. As with other captain underpants oops this story is a mix of writing and graphic novel/ cartoon.

The author Dav Pilkey has written/drawn another fantastic winner with Professor Poopypants. As with the other Captain Underpants books this book has many stories within it. The lead characters Harold and George begin with a comic style explanation with an extremely short summary of the adventures that have had thus far before starting on the new adventures involving Professor Poopypants.

I love the colour illustrations and my Miss Seven assures me that this book is very, very good. I expect that this book is more targeted towards boys and certainly has a lot of boy humour in it definitely hits the right spot for Miss Seven and Miss Five. Whilst the story is written correctly the comic /graphic style is written as George and Harold would write so is very phonetic and with loads of spelling errors . Miss seven likes this as it is easier for her to read and she spends much time giggling over the illustrations.

If you have read others in the series then this won't disappoint. I think I prefer this hardback over the paper back versions and it is definitely worth the extra few dollars. I an definitely recommend this.
