I liked the way that when you squirt the paint on it goes around with the paper inside the spinner making cool patterns like the one I did at the Gypsy Fair. I really liked the way the lights could turn on and it made the spinner look like it could glow. I liked the way it could do music too so it wasn't really boring. It was built really well, but Dad says it wasn't so easy to clean.
I would like to see more coloured paints, but it was good that it came with some paper to paint on, and batteries. It was also good that I could use it lots of times, but I had to not play with it all the time because I want to save the batteries and paint too.

Reading the other reviews, any improvements I could suggest would just be reiterating the comments made above; so, I shall just comment on the positive aspects.

This is a seriously cool 'art medium' - I hesitate to say toy, because chappies my age do NOT play with toys, I leave that to my daughter. On seeing the box, my daughter wanted to break it out and get stuck in before I even saw the remotest possibility of actually reviewing it.
The music, the lights and the art made from spinning paper and blobs of paint was too much to resist for a child. Then to produce some stunning pieces of art - well, that was just too much!
Thankfully for me, the sound can be switched off, and seeing that Hasbro are unlikely to produce an operatic version, I will have to put up with my daughter enjoying some funky music.

Seven pieces of paper do not last long, and it would have been great to see a little more paper included in the pack, and as a fellow reviewer mentioned, mat paper just soaks up fluid and warps quickly. I pressed some cheap gloss photographic paper into service. The small amounts of paint disappear quickly too, for which we used some slightly diluted acrylic paints - probably not something the manufacturers want to hear, but having spent best part of $60 on the spinner, parent (especially being hard-up after xmas) will want to save a shilling or two here and there. The other bonus being the vast range of colours available too.

All in all, a great toy and a great time to be had by all - when my daughter heads to bed, I will get a chance to break it out and have a go at producing fun art. This paint spinner deserves a place under the Xmas tree this season - if only to keep the kids quiet on a rainy day, or to amuse dad for an hour in the afternoon.

I bought one of these from the warehouse the other day (for $54.95) and took it home to play with my daughter. When she saw the lights, she suggested getting ready for bed early, so she could try it in the dark. This turned out to be a great idea since the spinners own lights do a much better job giving you a really visually fun experience. Night time is when this comes into its own. Switch the light to low speed strobe and see the painted card appaerently revolving slowly, giving you a clear view of the paint as it moves across the card, or flip it to high speed strobe and see an exploding star of colours. The low-speed strobe appears to vary according to the semi-randomly mixed music samples which keeps the patterns shifting in time as the paint shifts in space. The glossy cardboard keeps the paint flowing pretty well, but it is gluggy coming out of the bottles I got too. Normal poster paints are not suitable replacements unless they have a hi-vis glow effect under UV light, but I bought some glitter paints at the same time, and the glitter works a treat. I think this is a great toy, my daughter didnt want to stop playing with it. Now that she's asleep, I want to unpack it and have a play myself too. Cleaning can be a bit of a worry and hassle but its worth it to keep it running longer.

The inner child in me is SCREAMING that this is the "Coolest little dinkiest Toy I've Seen In A While".
Now, conforming back to my real age, This toy definitely gets a Ten in the COOL TOY FACTOR because I believe I, a mature adull, was giggling childishly. This brings out the little kid in all of us.
This dinky toy produces totally unique masterpieces every time, it would make a great "Rainy Day" activity, or just to spend time having fun with the children.
The music pumping out can get a little monotonous, but that can be fixed with the push of a button, and the lights inside are useful cos you can use it in the dark, the strobes just add more effect.
This item appeals to me, because I can immagine sitting, playing with my nephew, and it, for hours.
It has very few down points: Two, but these all have their resolutions.
The Seven pieces of paper provided wont last long on a rainy day, but this can be solved by one of two methods: Scissors and Paper, or by purchasing a refill pack, which contains 3 paint bottles and more display cards.
And the paint is a little thick, in my opinion, because it doesn't spread as well as it could, but it still does the job and produces awesome works of art for your kids, (and secretly, You) to be proud of, maybe as a christmas card, or even, with the help of a magnetic strip, or that old fridge magnet you never liked, a new fridge magnet.
All in all it was love at first gloop of the paint, an awesome, highly recommended piece of kit.

I think the courier was worried... I knew this was arriving today, and when he came in the door I nearly bowled him over in my hurry to sign for it and get the box open. The rate at which he back-pedalled out the door again was a testiment to his agility and speed. LOL Icon

He wasn't even fully in his van again before I was peeling the box open to reveal my prize, the LiteBrite Flash Art neon paint spinner. I was unsure as to what batteries I would need to buy, so you can imagine my joy to find that yes, they ARE included, and in fact already installed! As the box dissolved under my eager fingers, the unit emerged into the light, all shiny and new. This purple piece of playtime heaven came complete with 7 glossy black display cards ready to use, 4 bottles with drip-feed nozzles, in baby blue, yellow, black and fluro orange paint. That's it, that's all that was needed!

Here I am, 30+ years old, father of a 5 year old boy, sitting at work, playing with this unit like I was my son's age! LOL Icon What a sight it must have been. Grin Icon But anyways, here's what I thought as I played...

    •  The glossy card is a MUST. I wanted to experiment, so used one card as a stencil and cut myself some more display cards, from various stock cards. The non-glossy card warped as the paint soaked in, causing all sorts of messy, but interesting, results... and no flat finished results. They all warped out of shape as the card drew in the moisture.
    •  I bow down in thanks to the designers who realised a MUTE button was essential. The music is funky, but after 20 minutes can become totally annoying to any nearby adults. Kids will probably listen to it for days on end, given half a chance.
    •  The START/STOP button only likes being a START button. You have to give it quite a press to get it to stop the spinninginginginging... Oh, I'm getting dizzy now.
    •  It's really neat how you can switch the lights between strobe and steady... in 'steady' mode this looks quite usable at night even! (So keep it locked up, or the kids will be up all night and you'll have to buy a paint pack every couple of days!)
    •  So easy to set up and use. The platter has an indented rim, and you literally just tuck the corners of the cards under the rim to lock it in place.
    •  Cleaning the unit can be a little troublesome. A drainage plug in the bottom might have been a good move, so that after playtime, you spin it up, squirt some water into it, then let the fluid drain away. I used a spray-bottle and a *LITTLE* bit of water to clean the platter, then tilted it on one side and soaked up the coloured water in a handful of paper towels. Awkward, but not too much hassle really. But you have to be sure to get the paint from under the rim of the platter.

I was quite happily playing away when a customer came up and started enquiring about designing a new business card for him. He was soon as fascinated by the spinner as I was, and by the end of our conversation he was on his way to buy one for his kids, and my masterpiece of Flash Art was being scanned in and used as part of his business card design!

Overall, this is one seriously nifty toy, suitable for ages 5 to 95. The only things that I thought could be improved were:
    •  Cleanability
    •  The paint was quite thick... thinner, runnier paint would give a more dramatic and evenly-spread effect.
That's about it really, other than that, this toy is just the thing for passing wet winter days when stuck inside, or to help scratch the kids' creative itches. And yes, there are paint/card refill packs available, so you might want to consider buying one or two of them when you buy your unit, as the kids can blow through them in a few days of dedicated assault. Smile Icon
