Brilliant camera work, each story is a visual feast - no surprise from BBC.

I enjoyed the professional/personal nature of the stories. They are not only about animals and locations, but about the character and dedication of the individuals who study them. We are taken alongside these people on an unfolding journey. Along the way we get a sense of their quest and a greater understanding and appreciation of the natural world around us.

I had never before seen any image of a whale shark. The sheer size of this fish and the striking patterns along its length took me by surprise - what a stunning creature. Totally weird mouth though, especially when it is wide open (no teeth, this one is a filter feeder).

I found all of the documentaries in this collection well worth viewing. I particularly enjoyed watching 'Moose in the Glen'. I think it is a fantastic quest - trying to restore a small part of the Scottish highlands to original state complete with original wildlife. Quite the challenge. This documentary provides an excellent visual description of how the animals and the land ultimately function together for regeneration and balance.

Rated: PG (some fighting and mating scenes in the Gorilla doco, a deer gets shot (not a close up) during culling in 'Moose in the Glen', can't remember what else might cause a younger viewer distress...)
