Bog King (Alan Cumming) leader of the Dark Forest, hates the notion of love and has ordered the destruction of all primroses, which are an essential ingredient of love potions.

However, when he meets Marianne (Evan Rachel Wood), a feisty fairy princess whose heart was broken by a philandering fiance, he begins to change his mind.

Meanwhile, an elf named Sunny (Elijah Kelley) makes his way to the Dark Forest to collect enough primrose petals for a potion of his own.

Every once in a while a movie touches you and leaves you believing in magic and love and reminds you that fairies really do exist. It leaves you smiling as you listen to songs from Kelly Clarkson, Beyonce and Elvis Presley as you find yourself gazing at awe at the stunning pictures presented to you like that rose petal bed it is just so magical and so well done.

Totally a childrens movie and extremely predictable, but ever so much fun - it leaves you wanting more.

I love movies with the 'happily ever after' where everyone is happy and justice is brought to those requiring it. Where love beats all even when the odds are stacked against them. Although it does get a little dark for a small period of time my four year old coped with it and was not fazed at all. Instead she was humming away with the singing and got up at the credits to dance away to it.

If you love action, romance, drama, singing, magic, spells, fairies, trolls then you will adore this movie. Basically its about a love spell gone wrong and trying to correct a wrong. Its just so cute and fun and adoreable and leaves you wanting to cuddle your children or your husband. The voices are done really well and although at times the songs can sound like bad Karaoke it does not effect the movie at all. It also teaches you not to judge a book by its cover and everyone deserves to be happy no matter what they look like on the outside.

George Lucas was the one who originally came up with the concept and developed the story which feels weird in a way as I have always credited him with Star Wars and this seems like a complete u-turn when you throw in the singing as well. But regardless I loved it and it is completely rewatchable as both my girls asked can they watch it again as soon as it finished. Don't expect any layers to the movie it is what it is and its just great.
