I knew about Shawshank Redemption and knew that it was a rather good movie but I simply had no interest in a prison movie. When I was on my honeymoon we saw some DVDs on sale for cheap and wanted something to watch whilst cuddled up in bed and this was a movie that my husband really wanted to buy claiming it to be a great movie. Well... This is far more than a just prison movie, so much more than that. Andy has been put in prison for the murder of his wife and her lover and only he (and the killer) knows that he is innocent, whilst in jail he meets Red and they become friends over the years.

There is so much to this movie and yes it does deal with prison warden brutality, abuse, rape and so on that occurs in prison but then it delves into so much more. Andy shouldn't be in jail but he pushes through and start to do things to make life as good as he can, doing things like setting up the library and getting it in gear, teaching the fellow inmates. There is a lot going on for this movie and I'm glad that in the end I did cuddle up with my husband and watched it.

There are few movies around that show the true depth of the human spirit. Even in the worst case scenario Andy (Tim Robbins) never gave up and even helped people in worse situations then he was. This movie pulled at the heart strings and you are routing for him even at the end.

Andy is wrongly imprisoned for the murder of his wife and her lover and is given a life sentence. He befriends another inmate Red (Morgan Freeman) and changes everyone's life at the prison, the guards and fellows criminals.

This is the sort of movie that you can rewatch over and over again and never gets old. The acting, script, characters are so compelling that you are completely engrossed in the movie and do not realise that close to two and half hours has passed already.

This is based on a Stephen King novel and the usual horror is is normally known for is very subtle in this movie. It focuses on the guards and the treatment that they dish out to the convicts. It is honest in the way it portrays what prison is like for fellow inmates and that there are rules that need to be obeyed.

Absolutely hate the end and to think of what he went thru to escape. Climbing thru that tunnel you could only imagine the smell and the absolute panic he must of been going thru. So glad it worked out for the two main characters. An inspiring movie that everyone should watch at least once.

Product reviews for listing 510: King Arthur
Directed by Antone Fuqua

Product image for King ArthurThis is the valiant tale of Arthur and his bond of brotherhood with Lancelot and the loyalty of the Knights of the Round Table as they fight for freedom and those they love.

Also starring Keira Knightley as Guinevere, this never-before-seen King Arthur is a longer, grittier and more explicit motion picture -- don't miss it!

Blood on the Land: Forging King Arthur, Alternate Ending : Badun Hill w/Optional Director's Commentary, Producer's photo gallery
