We were lucky enough to be selected to review this DVD recently. We have a 6 year old and a almost 2 year old at home. Miss6 has grown up with Sesame Street, and Elmo has always been a big hit even outside of the 'Street' setting. My toddler has had a few exposures, but is mainly a Disney girl at heart. However, it is hard to resist the call of a Muppet and this was no exception.

I popped the DVD on when we got home as Miss6 wanted to play on the computer. My toddler stood by the coffee table right in front of the screen as the colourful introduction screen came up. It has very limited options in the menu (play all or scene select), but this is not surprising and for the price it's right as far as other DVDs in this kid's range.

Once I selected Play All, I lay on the couch for a rest while she took it in. It was not long, til I found myself being smothered by toddler. She climbed onto my chest and lay back, using my face as her back rest. She was so entranced, she didn't seem able to register I was talking to her or tickling her. When the DVD stopped, she started to panic. She looked to me and pointed at the TV rather insistently. A low moan and the threat of tears, I put it back on and she was instantly at peace. Yikes, this was a huge hit!

The second time through, big sister came down to watch and she enjoyed it as well. The stories are a good length for kids. The lessons are really key for any child trying to get along in the world. Every kid has to find a way to be okay with sharing, with putting themselves out there and talking to or playing with peers. Negotiating some of that stuff is hard, especially where you feel left out. I found that helped open up a conversation with my eldest as well.

I would recommend this DVD to anyone looking to introduce the social aspect to their kids. It would be a good way to help prepare a child for a change like going to daycare or school. It's certainly on high rotation in our house.
