A variety of horrible poisonous spiders get exposed to a noxious chemical that causes them to grow to monumental proportions.

It's hard to know which category to put this movie in, but given my dislike for spiders slightly outweighed the comedy in Eight Legged Freaks I went for horror.
Naturally this is set in a small town in the middle of nowhere, with little to now communication with the outside world. Chris is making a visit back to his home town when he finds out via Mike (the son of his old flame) that the local weirdo (who just so happens to collect spiders) has had his spiders mutate, grow at a rate and to a size of epic proportions and are now off to eat up the whole town.
The spiders aren't too realistic, there are enough moments where you can pick out the CGI and a couple of times it is very noticeable, that still doesn't make me dislike it any less. The acting isn't anything fantastic but it suits the movie in a strange way and so I wasn't really concerned about it, it adds to the comedy side of the movie, and yes, there were some laughs, and it takes great advantage of b-movie and horror movie cliches, which isn't always a bad thing.
I don't like spiders but this isn't too bad of a movie, and good for when you just want something silly to relax to,
