I grew up with the music from most of Andrew Lloyd Webber's musicals as my grandfather had most of them on tape, this was before CDs, and would play them often so I know the music but for some reason have never seen the movie. I do know the story but still found that it was a bit harder to watch then I thought it would be, the saving grace was the music and the memories of listening to the music with my grandpa.

I really don't know if I would be bothered to buy this on DVD as it is more the music that interests me, it is not something the kids can watch for obvious reasons. I did enjoy finding out the full story as some of it takes place without any music so there was a bit that I hadn't seen but it is morIe the music that holds my attention.

I think the musical is well done, the actors did play their parts well although it would have been a lot better if Minnie Driver had done the singing herself. I think for me the attraction is the music and there is nothing wrong with the movie but I might get the soundtrack and be happy with that.

I watched this quite a while ago, when it came out at the theaters and when it came out on DVD I bought a copy for at home, I grew up hearing Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical and loved the music (although not that Christine) and though I have only watched this a couple of times since owning it, it is still grand to watch each time.

We start off in black and white as we have Raoul as an old man returning to the theater which is having bits and pieces sold off, as he wins a macrame musical monkey the black and white ruins quickly changes into bright, bold and vibrant colors as we see what happened to lead to the ruins it is now. Everything is loud and bold, as one would expect in such a place and there is no lack of characters going on. The only actor in this not to sing their part was Minnie Driver, but she did her part as the primadonna well.

I love the music, I always have, and Gerard Butler does a fantastic job as the Phantom, both as this terror that has people in fear of him, to this wounded soul who has never known love and yearns so much for it and one does hope that he eventually managed to find true love. The costumes are gorgeous, seriously gorgeous and I love Christine's wardrobe. The songs are wonderful and suit every moment perfectly and there were a couple of moments of singing along with it.

I love this movie, though every time I watch it my husband happily reminds me that he loves going to the stage version of this LOL Icon, it's one that I enjoy watching and will bring it out now and again for sure.

My husband and I were employed to act as security guards for this school being hired out for the weekend. We hired this with the notion of turning it off every 15 minutes and checking the rooms. Did that the first 15 minutes but after that could not move. I was so transfixed and involved in the movie that remembering to breath in certain scenes was hard.

I had seen Phantom of the Opera live and thought that this movie could not do it any justice but how wrong was I. A manly man I worked with at the time had seen it at the movies and was telling me how emotional it was and he even had a tear in his eye. Did not believe how this movie could possibly take my breath away but it did.

Gerard Butler is fantastic as the Phantom a man who had been disfigured during birth and resided in an opera house. There he falls in love with Christine and does everything in his power to make her the star that he knows she is.

The end 20 minutes had me so transfixed that I could not move. It is so mesmerizing and so powerful that you will forget where you are. As soon as it became available to purchase I did and have watched the last 20 or so minutes a million times. Its beautiful. Highly recommend to anyone who loves musicals - Andrew Lloyd Webber's music is so full of love and meaning and you can feel the raw emotions through his lyrics. Great acting and lovely scenery.
