This is a wonderful story. I chose it as my daughter's imagination is growing wildly and she absolutely adored the adventures that Finnigan and the Pirates had.
As this is a novel aimed at 7 to 9yrs old, and my daughter is only 4, i read it one chapter at a time, and let my daughter ask any questions she had about the story.
This book took me (without my daughter around) an hour to read all at once. I think this is a great story, and as it is based for young children i think the pictures are great to help them connect with the story.
I would definitely recommend this book to other young children, and will be giving a copy to my niece!
