Working as an Early Childhood teacher in a babies room I come across all sorts of different toys intended for the baby and toddler age group, and also now as a parent myself. There can certainly be a huge variation in the quality of toys that I have come across some seem to last and last through everything, while others seem to just break within the first week, though I am happy to report that Lamaze is a fantastic brand that is of high quality materials that lasts for ages!

I have worked at several centres now where we have had the Lamaze Balancing Bug Stacker toy and the kids just love it! With bright colours and happy, smiling faces of each of the cute little bugs, there is no way you can not be attracted to playing with these.

Each of the bugs has a magnet on the top and bottom of it so that they are able to be stacked, I feel that this is a great idea as it aids the young children with being able to stack the objects which without the magnets to hold them in place would prove to be a lot harder for them. The bugs are the perfect size for little hands to pick up and grasp, and although the magnets do make it easy for them to stack up most of the children whom I have worked with much prefer the process of knocking them back down!

Within the set of 6 little bugs there are lots of familiar faces you would come across in your garden such as butterflies, ladybugs and snails which the children just love. The insects are very tactile and have several different textures to them great for exploration and awareness of children's senses, they do get chewed a lot by teething children but these seem like they are made to aid with teething, which is OK as in a centre we wash everything as soon as it has been mouthed!

A very quality product, with a fantastic price which would make a super cute baby shower or first birthday gift!

Each bug has magnets in it so they can be stacked up on top of one another. My son loves it when I stack them and he can knock them down.

I love the fact that they are bright and colourful and the right size for little hands.

My son enjoys chewing on the wings/bug legs when he is teething. It would be nice if those bits were slightly bigger so he could have a better munch on them.

The only other small thing that could be improved is the strength of the magnets. They tend to be pulled apart a little to easily. But it is not a big deal.

Price is definitly fair!

All in all I really liked this toy, it is interesting, bright, fun and the best bit is it doesn't require batteries or make load noises!!
