When I was looking through the KIWIreviews website, I came across the Haribo Strawberry Balla Stixx and was a bit intrigued, as they are like a skinny version of one of my favourite sweets - red liquorice with sherbet, so of course I had to request them. I was very happy to see them in my review package and opened them straight away, and offered them to my children to try also, as children are anything if brutally honest!

The stixx come in an easy to open packet, with a clear window, making it very easy to see which sweets they were. Taking them out of the package, I was a little surprised at just how skinny they were, but looking at the information on the back, realised that five sticks is the recommended serving size, and with them being over half sugar, that is probably even a generous serve. I tried one at the same time as my children and to be honest, was a bit on the fence about them. They do not have a strong taste of strawberry, or creamy filling. The strawberry outer is a little like a less sticky fruit rollup, or less fruity fruit leather, and the filling is like a non tangy sherbert. They would definitely curb a sweet craving though, that is for sure. My children said similar - they are nice to eat, but no really strong flavour. They did find a few ways to "play" with them though - trying to suck the middle out, chew a hole down the strawberry and open it up, squeeze out the filling, and to cut it into teeny tiny pieces to then eat with a spoon. If nothing else it was VERY entertaining!

I would possibly buy these again, as we did use them to decorate a gingerbread house and pressed them into the top of just baked biscuits to add a bit of colour - which worked a real treat. They could be really good to add to a cake or something decorative as well as warding off sugar cravings nicely!!

My kids, especially my younger two, have sweet tooths, just like me. So when this came out of the review parcel, my 11 year old quickly pounced on it, cut it open with some scissors and had attempted to run off with the entire contents. After convincing them to slow down for a moment, I gave the packet a quick inspection and we all took turns giving it a sniff (after all, if it doesn't smell like the advertised flavour, that isn't a good sign...). In the end, the consensus was that it smelled yummy and all four of us grabbed a piece to try out and see if it was something we wanted more of.

My 13 year old was uninterested, they finished their stick and then declined anymore saying that it just didn't taste nice enough. My nine year old took a couple of bites, put it down to go play and promptly forgot about it, which made it clear that they weren't really interested in eating anymore of these again. I tried mine but felt that it just tasted a little off and whilst I finished mine it just didn't taste quite right and I didn't feel like anymore. However, my 11 year old didn't mind of these opinions at all, because they love these and it meant that they could then finish the rest of the bag on their own, which they did. With only one member of the household loving these, I can't see these as a regular treat, but perhaps a bag for the upcoming birthday would work just fine.

I would probably have to admit that I do have a sweet tooth and often find myself looking for something sweet to munch on after dinner. I had not seen Haribo sweets before and these balla stixx looked good.

Haribo Balla Stixx come in a white packet with clear window where you can see the product and a yellow bear to the side. I hadn't recalled seeing these in our local supermarket and since trying have noticed this brand with a small range in the corner. They are reasonably priced at roughly $2.50 for 140g which seems to be a good number of sticks.

My children and I sat down to try the balla stixx. The kids loved then first eating them whole then eating the strawberry layer off to get to the white suff inside. Tey said that the white stuff was yum but the strawberry layer didn't have much taste. As for me, I didn't really like the taste. They strawberry outer was gummy and an odd taste and the white stuff had a bit more taste but not appealing to me.

Overall I would buy these if there was reason maybe like decorating a cake or for a party etc but wouldn't purchase them for myself.

My daughters were the first to spot these and immediately asked if they could open them up and review them! The strawberry Bella Stixx comes in a plastic bag with a clear window so you can see the pink sticks. For 140 grams, there also appear to be a lot of sticks, which was good news for our family! The bag was easy to open but ripped down the side and each member of the family tried one. The sticks have a soft, pink, strawberry flavoured licorice on the outside and a white core. There were rather delicious and had a lovely sweet strawberry flavour, and we all agreed that these were yummy.

I decided to try to separate a stick and ate the outside first to see what the two different flavours were. The outside was a strawberry licorice flavour but was a little underwhelming. The white inside was had a grainier texture but a stronger flavour and combined together, gave a love rich, strawberry flavour.

The pack contains approx 25 sticks (I weighed one stick) and even one stick makes for a great treat for the kids or a quick sugar pick me up. I thought they were great value for money and you could even cut them into halves, thirds or quarters if you wanted to make them go further.

I don't smoke, I don't do drugs and I don't drink but I do do lollies and I am actually amazed I have never heard of Balla Stixx until this review popped up. I was even more flawed when my husband, who barely eats lollies knew about them - well apparently a bigger variety kind. His first comment was because of the size they have got the flavouring correct and its not as sweet or sickening as the other kind.

I had assumed it was going to be very tangy but instead it is more a strawberry licorice flavour with a little hint of sweetness. I then tried to suck the white center out to find out what it is and reminds me of a dry icing. Its extremely sweet and unlike other bags of sweets I found I could only eat a couple before it got to much for me - which is fantastic when you look at the price of this and how long I could stretch a bag out on my own. Unfortunately, I had the other three leeches around and two of them were grabbing for them like their is no tomorrow.

The bag is very plan and not really eye catching - but then - it does have a window showing off the red stick. I guess the bear holding the sticks does give a suggestion of what was in the packet. Also just looking at the packet I would probably of side stepped as the sticks are really not that big but after having one I don't think I would want them any bigger as the sweetner is a kicker even after a couple of minutes you still have the after taste lingering around in your mouth.

I think in future I probably would buy again just for the price alone vrs how long I could stretch it out. I am trying to be good with lollies as we roll into summer and as I have stated before three sticks was definitely pushing it for me - so this would be great pick me up if I was craving something sweet and would not result in me practically devouring a whole packet of lollies on my own. They are very high in sugar - which would also be a good incentive not to eat to much.

I am very surprised with this item. Glad I got to find out what I have apparently been missing all my life. Definitely a hit in this house.

These strawberry and creamy lollies are free of artificial colours and give you the little sweet hit you need. These packets contain a great number of sticks, easily shared amongst a family. The children in my family loved them! They love all sweet things, but I can say they honestly devoured these.

I personally found the taste a bit off. But also am not a huge sweets fan. For me personally, I didn't love the taste - especially the after taste - so I couldn't handle this much. But a lolly lover could devour these easily. The flavour is subtle enough, you could continue nibbling without realising the amount you were really getting through. In comparison, the kids loved them. I am sure they would use them as morning tea snacks if provided the opportunity.

These sweets are a great price and are affordable by families. The serving size is 5.5 sticks which is a tad funny, but I suppose this is based on the overall weight in the packet? The sticks are around 12cm long. They are strawberry strips of gummy which covers a white creamy inner. They easily separate, and when eaten separately, the taste is rather bland. I strongly suggest eating both parts together, to ensure you get some flavour and variety of texture. The "creamy inside" isn't really as creamy as I would have imagined from a lolly advertised as so. The red outside is less gummy like, and more hardened.

These lollies are definitely better when consumed all together. They are over 50% sugar, but still taste reasonably low in sweetness, so would better suit those who enjoy less sweet treats. The flavour is subtle so can be snacked on very easily if you are not careful.

These lollies could not have come at a better time. Miss Eight was getting organised for her trick-or-treat session for Hallowe'en so the individual pieces were the right shape and colour to double as insect antennae or witch whiskers! We divided up the contents of the bag among the six of us so we could all have a trial run, but she rationed hers so she could keep a couple for props as she walked around. I insisted however that she eat some before leaving so she could give me her feedback. That was the deal!

The pack represents good value. It contains plenty for sharing - we had four or five stixx apiece, which is more or less what the pack indicated might be a good sized helping, although I think Miss Eight and Mr Ten might have snuck an extra one each. We all thought that was a reasonable quantity. The children thought they could probably eat more than that, but they are going through a growth spurt so that is understandable. I had thought they might not be quite sweet enough for their palates, but they both said they were perfect and that the cream filling might be too much if it were any sweeter.

The strawberry taste is quite subtle and only one of the six of us picked up that the stixx were supposed to be this flavour. Miss Eight thought they were raspberry flavoured and Mr Eight agreed with her although he had to think about it first. The adults were less certain - they all said they would like a stronger, more definite fruit taste. However, we also thought this could be an advantage as the stixx could be used to decorate various foods and then they would pick up whatever other flavours were being used. Mr Ten, who is heavily into LEGO and similar construction sets, said he would have fun icing a cake with a spaceship or crane image on top - he would use the stixx and small coloured lollies to make the picture. He is having a birthday next month, so he may get the chance to try out his design skills.

One of the adults thought they would be ideal for someone who is on a low-sugar diet but has an occasional craving for something sweet. These lollies are not too high in calories, and one or two would satisfy that sugar low without doing too much damage. They are also low in fat and sodium which means they would be reasonably ok for the children to have as a treat now and then. Miss Eight found them quite chewy, and suggested they might present a choking hazard for very young children. However, she herself had no difficulty chewing them with her big girl teeth!

We did one final test with the last couple of stixx. First, Miss Eight squeezed both ends of one of them and managed to ease out a centimetre of white filling. She then bent a stixx in half and presented us with a miniature skipping rope. Meanwhile, Mr Ten had found a Christmas card featuring a sleigh, and was busy arranging some of the stixx on it to look like reins. More cake decorating ideas! Lastly, we cut one right up the middle to see what the inside looked like. The filling lifted clean off the pink outer section so effectively that we ended up with two differently coloured confectionery "snakes" which could be used for more cake decorations. I think I know what we will be doing with the next packet!

I have always loved sweets, and through KIWIreviews I have come to try many different varieties of licorice. I've never been a fan of the black aniseedy flavoured liquorice or black jelly beans, but the fruit flavoured licorice has always been very enjoyable. In fact, that is what I thought this product was. It looked very similar to the raspberry licorices that I had tried before, but the packaging of these Haribo Balla Stixx has no reference to licorice at all. These are simply described as strawberry flavoured gums. I make this differentiation between licorice and gummies because these two items have very different textures and flavours; especially when it is the Haribo style of gummy that we are talking about.

These strawberry gums are about 15cm long, and consist of thin strawberry flavoured gummy tubes that are filled with a white candy mixture. As mentioned earlier, these are gummies, not licorice, so the flavour of the red tubing is actually quite muted. Haribo gummies have a reputation for being a little bit tough and that is mirrored in this new product. With the gum being stretched so thin, the surface area to volume ratio is so large that the tubing has a very tough consistency, just short of being like plastic. No doubt this would be due to the increased amount of surface area exposed to the air. Because of the length of the stixx, these can't fit in the mouth all in one go. So unlike a gummy bear, you are only getting part of the full gummy flavour, which assumedly leads to the reduced flavour profile of the strawberry.

The "creamy" filling is also rather low in flavour and isn't overly creamy. While it is definitely softer than the strawberry tubes, it is easy to separate one from the other. The product is definitely at its best when all parts are consumed at once and would be ideal for those that prefer less sweetness in their treats. The product is 58% sugar, which means the product is certainly not in the low sugar category, but the flavour will definitely have an appeal to those that don't like too intense flavours.

The quantity you get is impressive considering the price, so it is a great choice if you have many kids to keep happy, or are on a budget, but this reviewer definitely prefers stronger flavours and would have loved a thicker gummy tube to get a nicer texture.

Well I like sweets and I like new brands to try to find new things to snack on at night or when the kids arent watching. I liked the idea it had a creamy filling, once arrived I couldn't help but try them and my mum was here to try aswell.

I like the size they are small and easy to eat without sharing with kids (my instance my kids can't eat cause of the wheat in them so great for me). The packet states serving size is 5.5 sticks which yea ok but honesty you can't do .5 so its 4 or 6 sticks. My issue was I could do 5 and no more at a time cause of the aftertaste I didn't like it but it didn't stop me going back for another serving later on. Strawberry flavour was there was strong but not overpowering strong you just knew what it was. The centre meant to be creamy I don't feel it is, I can pull the red off and the centre I felt was a bit harder then creamy and no real flavour to it, but the red on it's own didn't really have flavour too so need both together.

These sticks would be good for children that you don't want to have a sweet lolly as I don't find it sweet I had ideas of sticking halves I to cupcakes for ears but can't test it as not gluten free so they would make a great addition to party food without the risk of hypo kids. The price isnt bad for the amount you get. I would happily buy for niece, nephews to put into their gifts.
