I had originally won tickets for the family to go and see this movie but unfortunately by the time I had received them our movie theatre was no longer playing it so the girls and I had been holding out to see it somehow. I was over the moon when I opened up the package and found the zany animals stearing back at me. As we have had a hetic couple of weeks, today was a blobby day and I could not wait to lie down on the couch with the popcorn to watch it.

As my youngest was still getting ready we left it on the homepage and a funny conversation followed about who or what the animals on the screen were. The Gorilla and the Gold Fish in the ball were obvious but the rest were rather tricky and it turns out we were all wrong. To be honest I am still not sure what the orange Frog really is. It still resulted in a lot of laughter and if I was honest that was the high point of the whole movie.

It started off with the ocean water and I had to have a double look because the water looked so real. I knew it was animated but I was still puzzled as the trees came into view and it was also hard to tell if it was authentic or if it was some really great computer work. Finally the creatures came on to the screen and it all fell into place. I was a little preplexed though in this particular jungle was a magnitude of animals ranging from a Kiwi to a Sloath and even a Rhino were all living in the same vacinity. The Koala turned out to be a bad guy but the animals were from all over the world. It was actually rather neat as we were trying to name them all but I have to say some were a little hard to reconginse.

Now I have a nine year old and a six year old and while the movie had its moments it did not hold either of their attentions. A little over 90 minutes long and I found in places it did drag on. They did both watch to the very end and when I asked them what they thought my nine year old said 'it was good but it was rather babyish' and then my six year old said that she too was too old for the movie and I have to agree. It would be great for preschoolers but in saying that I am still not sure it would hold their attention. I did not find it humourous at all and there were a couple of questions when one of the animals died in the fire, it was a little unsettling but it was still done rather tastefully.

I found the voices did not match the characters and I absolutely detested the Gorillas voice. Its a shame as I find the voice can either make or break a movie and there were only a couple of the characters I found genuine. The movie itself was bright and vibrant and very well made but, maybe it was just the voices but I did not really enjoy it. We will be passing on to my cousin who has a three year old that loves animals. Its worth watching the beginning if only to try and guess what the animals are.
