Back when I was a little girl I was a fan of fresh fish but for some reason I disliked salmon or tuna that came from a tin. However while flatting when I tried tuna from a tin on some crackers one day, I decided that actually it was quite nice. Usually I would just purchase plain tuna in spring water, but when I saw this Smokey Harissa tuna available to request I thought to myself I should try it since I like spicy food. I requested to review a pouch and waited to see if I would receive one - I did, and once I had looked at what else I had received I quickly went into the kitchen to make a sandwich with the tuna.

The packaging was bright and made me eager to try the tuna, I liked that the packet was foil as it helps to keep it fresh. Upon starting to make a sandwich I realized there was too much tuna for just one sandwich, so made one for my partner also so he could try it. The aroma from the Smokey Harissa flavour was mouth-watering and the colour was nice and rich. The flavour had a real smokiness to it and quite a spice hit. I like spicy food so it was perfect for me, my partner found it slightly hot.

I will be buying this product in the future, I believe it is great value for the amount you get. This would be ideal for a snack or light meal. I look forward to seeing what other flavours are available in the range.

I love the Sealord tins and pouches and they often make their way into my lunches. They are so quick and easy to have on toast, with crackers or to throw on some rice. When the chance to review a new flavour came up I was keen to try it out.

The first thing I noticed was the packaging has changed slightly and the packet is now bright and colourful showing just what was in the packet. I also like the fact it has a heat rating on the packet as well so you know just what to expect. Opening the pack was easy and the top tore off with ease, this is a great feature when you want a lunch on the go. Once the packet was open the aroma of spices was immediately released. I decided to try it on toast and wasn't disappointed it tasted as good as it smelt. The pouch contained the right mix of spice and lovely flaky tuna. It wasn't as hot as I was expect but the taste and texture was prefect for my taste buds.

Shopping the next day I had to grab another couple of pouches, I also grabbed some microwave cups of rice. I threw both in the microwave for a couple of minutes. tipped the pouch on top of the rice for a quick easy dinner that night. Once again I wasn't disappointed it was very tasty. These pouches are now a pantry must have in my house and I'm always discovering new ways to use them. If you love tuna and just a little heat and spices I recommend trying these pouches.

The packet looked pretty unassuming for this tuna pocket - no clever confusing graphics to be found. It was clear it would be a smokey peppery flavour and that it was tuna. I was interested that it was smokey not smoky as I would have spelt it without the e but this is not really a relevant comment for the review but interesting to note. I was not sure what harissa meant and looking it up it said "North African hot" which was a reasonable match to the image on the packet. I have never liked tinned tuna so I was not really optimistic about the fish initially.

I liked the rich colour and it managed to hide what I think of as the slight greyness that tuna often has. I thought the pieces were a good size and it smelled lovely. I was just popping it on toast for a quick snack as I had missed dinner so this was a perfect use for the size/style of a tuna pocket. I guess you could heat it up but I thought it was great cold. I really felt the fish texture was good and the result was lovely and filling. I think I would probably add it to some more complex dishes in future - I was probably setting the bar quite low just having it on toast. Sorry the picture is so boring but that is the reality of my review in this case.

The flavour was a lot less "hot" than I was expecting - I am not sure it would have been hotter if it had been heated. I enjoyed the rich flavour but it did not blow me away, to be honest. I was good with the flavour but I don't know that I would have this flavour again as I think I would experiment with more in the range. I didn't even need to drink the water I had beside me which was surprising as usually I need water when I eat fish. I thought it was a perfect quick meal and I will definitely keep some pockets in the cupboard for that option in future.

This is the third flavour of these pockets that I have tried. I enjoyed them all. I probably enjoyed this one the least but I think that is probably that I am never a massive tuna fan and I don't really understand the appeal of the smoked tastes as they always taste less savoury and more sweet to me which is not to my taste.

These are super delicious and convenient for lunchboxes. My husband likes "portable" things for his lunch as he often has to eat on the run. He can just rip off the top which is super easy to tear and dig in with his spoon or fork, no need for heating although I am sure it is just as delicious heated. It would be quite nice on toast too. I often have one for my own lunch...on top of a cruskit or sometimes just on its own.

The smokey flavour is just perfect and the blend of spices just right for both of our palettes. The price is just right on the money, not too expensive and even better if they are on sale. Thats when I stock up. The texture is flaky and not chunky as with other products sometimes.

I prefer flakes of Tuna rather than the chunky stuff and the sauce is not too runny either which is very important when you have to take a plate to a function...nothing nicer than Smokey Harrisa Tuna in a bread case done in the oven. I often give away my "secret" when people ask me how I made my "Tuna Treats"! These are just perfect.

Been looking for new and interesting items for my partner to eat for lunches instead of buying them. These pockets have always caught my eye but never brought them as was worried he wouldn't like them. Getting this one to review was awesome as he loves tuna and needed something easy for him to open and eat since there is no microwave or fridge.

The tuna pocket can be eaten just as it is, as opening the packet you could smell all the slow cooked spices into the tuna. He enjoyed the smokey flavour of the tuna and could taste the chilli which was good as it stated it was a medium heat. He would buy these again to put on sandwiches, crackers or just eat it as is. The small pockets weren't enough to fill him for a lunch but perfect for a snack in between jobs, but adding it with other items would turn it into a meal. $2.60 for a pocket is a good price and affordable for most families. We would recommend this pocket to other people for a quick snack/meal, he said it would be awesome to put on a platter with crackers around it for a BBQ or a snack before dinner.

Have not been a big tuna fan since eating way too many tuna salad subs while living in the USA. BUT...I really like this! I ate the packet with some rice and salad and liked it a lot! It didn't have that tinned tuna taste and was well seasoned. The tuna is a good consistency too, not slimy like some packaged fish can be. I have added this to my shopping list and will eat it again happily. I also like that it's about the right size (could use it for two lunches if I wasn't ravenous) for one, and doesnt need to be kept in the fridge. Normally fish causes issues in my office, but no problem with this at all. I am keen to try some other flavours!

I think the only thing to be aware of is that the flavour may not go with all of your salad dressing choices. Personally I like Harissa as a flavour and found I didn't need anything extra, bit don't think I would combine it with anything too garlicky or creamy. I bought this on special at the supermarket so it was a good deal. Will definitely keep this as a staple in the pantry from now on.

I am absolutely in love with the new Sealord packets that I have been lucky enough to review. I received two - a salmon one and this one - the Harissa tuna, which I requested so I could then buy something for my husband to have in his lunches.

I am a fish fan anyway, but, so many have little to no flavour, despite reporting marvellous combinations of things. It is so disappointing when you are looking forward to something taste in your meal. Sealord however, does NOT do this - and every bite is filled with flavour and, in this case - a little spice and zing.

The packaging first of all - it is great! Sealord have greatly improved from what they used to be - and now the packaging shows the product, as well as giving you a clear visual idea of what you are getting. The colour on the packet (red like chilli) is eye catching as well, helping you pick up the one you are looking for easily. As with the other Sealord product, I would love to see a seal on the packet - meaning you can save some (in theory) of the tuna for later.

The packet was easy to open and the tuna was easy to get out. I like that I was able to remove 99.9% of the tuna - unlike what can happen when it is it a can. The scent of the spices hits you - and as you take the first bite - mmmmmmm. The spices are strong enough to be flavoursome, but I would describe them as more on the mild side. My husband tried this one with me too and did say he would add hot sauce or similar to it.

There are so many uses for this, and it is a super handy and delicious thing to have in the pantry - which is why we will definitely be buying it again.

I don't seem to be able to fault the tuna Pocket range. I have gone from someone who actively disliked tuna to someone who has acquired an intense liking for it over the space of months: this is entirely due to the new approach Sealord has taken to their products - experimenting with different flavours and ingredients so as to extend the appeal to a wider range of consumers.

This one is my favourite to date. Harissa is one of those spice combinations that is just hot enough to intrigue but still sufficiently mild to be suitable for those with more delicate palates. It combines beautifully with the tuna to produce the perfect taste. The heat is mild so that you can really taste the lemon as well. I found I could eat a whole pack at one sitting - then to my dismay I remembered that I had a friend coming round to help me review it, so there was a sudden unscheduled phone call to ask him to pick up another packet at the supermarket on the way over.

We both loved the texture. There are large chunks of tuna in the packet with the lemon and harissa flavour infused right through them. We agreed that when you bit into them you really felt that you were eating proper food rather than the mashed-up apology for fish that you get in some canned foods. I kept the accompaniments plain because I wanted us to be able to get the full effect of the tuna, so I divided it between two plates with some plain bread and butter and avocado chunks to accompany it.

Later in the week I was asked to take a plate for an afternoon tea, so I purchased some vol-au-vents. I could have made them myself but I just did not have the time, and the bought version always looks more professional than mine. I filled them with tuna mixture with the addition of a little plain mayonnaise so they would not be too dry. I was going to take a photograph but they disappeared almost as soon as I put the plate down - so unfortunately, although I saw and heard the reactions and can confirm that everyone liked them, the evidence had been eaten!

This is yet another food item that I will keep handy for when I need a quick meal ingredient. But I won't make the mistake of having just one packet available: I will ensure there are two or even three on standby just in case.
