When I first saw this come up for review I was quite excited about having a new brand of fresh pasta to try but was also a bit apprehensive about trying a flavour that I would not normally buy in ravioli. I normally would stay away from the meat flavours as I quite often find flavours have been used rather than the meat itself.

I was pleasantly surprised when I read the ingredients and it actually stated that it had both pork and venison. I also liked reading that the ingredients also were all natural.

This pasta was very easy to cook and I just had to be careful not to overcook or let it stick on the bottom of the pot. The last thing I wanted was for my ravioli to burst and water down flavours. I was unsure what flavour sauce to put with this and so cooked a very simple tomato based sauce. However after trying the pasta without a sauce I limited the amount I put with this as I was in love with the flavour from the fillings.

It had a very tolerable texture (yes there was a texture which was great as it proved there was meat inside). My family was also in love with this pasta and the kids were quick to ask for more. At first I was shocked by the price of this pasta but after tasting it and knowing that it had real meat inside I would be happy to pay that price again for this.

I was so stoked when I was offered some of this lovely ravioli to review as it sounded absolutely delicious - venison and pancetta - yum! I served it with a basic alfredo sauce in order not to drown out the taste of the filling.

I have to say our 6 year old wasn't too keen on this, but she did try it and I think she'd enjoy it if it were something we served more often, but my husband and I were happy to have this to ourselves - although it well and truly filled up the 2 of us as a main meal. My husband and I both loved it.

The flavour was milder than I was expecting, but was lovely. I was pleased to see there was a decent amount of filling inside each piece too.

I loved that this was a frozen product so I can just have it on hand and have it to cook if I need a meal in a hurry - and it did cook very quickly and easily. Being frozen, It meant for a long shelf life for a decent handcrafted product without the additives and preservatives.

The price isn't cheap but I certainly wouldn't complain at it. I think it was very reasonable for what you get - a good sized meal for 2, decent filling of ingredients that aren't cheap and a tasty quality artisan product. I wouldn't eat this daily, but it's well worth paying for, and a great alternative to pricey takeaways.

Ravioli is a favourite in our household and when I was offered Pasta Mia's Venison, Pancetta and Rosemary Ravioli to review I couldn't refuse. I am not very cultured so I had to ask Aunty Google what pancetta was but after finding out it was a type of bacon I knew we would love it.

I had been warned not to put a strong sauce with it otherwise I would drown out the flavours so I just did a basic tomato sauce. The ravioli were lovely bite size pieces that were easy for the children to manage and held their shape very well. I found they stayed sealed and didn't stick together even though I never added and oil to the boiling water. The filling is nice and smooth. It didn't have a strong venison taste I was expecting. The packet says it was 56% venison so it wasn't like Pasta Mia were skimping. The mild taste appealed to the kids which was a bit of a shame as I was secretly hoping they wouldn't like it and I would get more.

It is stored in the freezer to keep it fresh since it doesn't contain any nasty additives. it is cooked from frozen which it makes it very handy when you haven't had a chance to organise dinner. We were sitting down to eat dinner within 10 minutes of us getting home. At $14.00 for two servings it is not something we will get very often but it would be handy to have in the freezer as a healthier alternative to takeaways (and probably quicker too) on a busy night.

I was excited to try this ravioli at home, as soon as I saw it had vension in it. My husband really rates vension as a meat and will often pick it at a restaurant if he isn't having the chicken. So I took this out of the freezer tonight, and popped them frozen into boiling salty water. As they went into the water, I did give it a bit of a stir and worried that they might stick. I do usually add a bit of oil. However, they did well - they didn't stick to the pot or each other and they didn't rip open either.

Once the pasta was cooked, I drained the water and then added half a tin of chopped tomato and basil. This gave us a nice light sauce which I thought would be good for the kids anyway. They don't like bold cooked tomato flavours usually. I served the pasta in a bowl with a little cheese on top.

As my husband took his first bites, I hovered over him waiting for his reaction. He said it was really nice, and then he asked what was in it as he had an idea but wasn't sure. So I let him know it was vension, his little eyes lit up! He was pretty chuffed with that. Before I knew it, his plate was clean and he was asking my eldest if she wanted hers. Unfortunately for him, she really did want hers.

My eldest cleaned her whole plate, and even asked without prompting if we can have that again for dinner in the future. She was keen as a bean. The only person in the house that was not 100% thrilled was Miss 3. But we evenutally worked out that the ravioli was a little too big for her and the sauce was still a bit much for her. Once hubby cut the pieces in half, she managed it just fine. So it was overall a success, even if it was a bit of a smaller meal than we would normally have. Still, I will be looking out for it at the supermarket now!

Our family are pasta lovers. Filled pasta is an even greater love! I knew that were were in for a treat with the Venison, Pancetta & Rosemary Ravioli after trying the Roasted Capsicum & Macadamia Tortelli. Well, for the adult tastes in our house anyway! I wasn't sure how venison pasta would go with the kids, considering they found one of the tortelli to rich for their tastes. I carefully cut up a single piece of ravioli for the kids, expecting that they weren't going to like it. Unfortunately for my husband and me, they loved it and wanted their share of the pack. I guess I should have been happy about that, but I wasn't really sure that I wanted to share it!

The ravioli comes frozen and is designed to be cooked straight from the freezer. It was so simple to prepare the pasta. I made up some homemade tomato and garlic sauce to go with it. When the sauce was nearly ready, I took the ravioli out of the freezer and tipped it into a pot of boiling water. I waited as per the instructions until the pasta floated in the water. This occurred pretty quickly. Fresh pasta certainly cooks quicker than dried pasta. After the brief cooking time, the pasta was al dente and held it's shape perfectly. I was so impressed with how the filling remained inside and the pasta was nicely sealed too.

I think that the ravioli went very nicely with the homemade tomato sauce. It wasn't overpowering and I was able to enjoy the flavour of the venison and pancetta coming through. I think that the main flavour I could taste was actually the pancetta, as there was a smokey kind of flavour coming through. I found that there was a good amount of filling in each piece of ravioli too.

I served this pack, along with the tortelli pack to three adults and two children, this would be approx equivalent to four adults. The pack says that it will serve two mains. After eating the pasta, the adults were still a little hungry, so we made up a simple salad. It filled the gap in perfectly. If I was to serve this pasta again, I would prepare a salad to go with it. This ravioli would look good served up with a colourful salad e.g. tomato, red pepper, nuts, etc and possibly some freshly baked bread rolls.

As with the tortelli, the quality was just amazing. I love the fact that it had simple, real ingredients. With the right skill and recipe, it would be possible to create the same pasta at home. This product doesn't contain a whole list of unnecessary ingredients, preservatives, colours or flavours. It is far superior to the standard supermarket brands that we would buy for our family. After tasting this, why would we want to eat dry pasta again?

I would recommend this ravioli, without any hesitation, it is simply amazing. The only issue for me is the price. I have to feed a family of four on a tight budget and therefore wouldn't be able to justify the purchase of this product. It could be a possibility if I was making a very special meal for my husband and me - perhaps a birthday treat. I wonder if I could zoom to the next birthday in our house as I can't wait to have the opportunity to have the Venison, Pancetta & Rosemary Ravioli again!

I have always loved Italian food... as long as the recipe has no olives, and keeps mushrooms to a minimum, I'll eat almost anything from that country - they know good food! Thus, I was quite excited to experience this range of products, and was determined to treat it with the respect hand-crafted artisan food deserves.

Because I have been on a bit of a Venison binge lately, this was my first choice to try, and I am so very glad I did. Not wanting to lose the flavour of the filling, I used a sauce I had made earlier in the year - a simple and relatively mild tomato, chilli and garlic sauce. Cooking the ravioli as per the directions was as simple as it could be - a pot of salted water, wait for it to boil, empty in the frozen ravioli and give it a stir to break them apart, then basically leave them alone for a few minutes to cook.

Using that time to get dishes sorted, get the sauce heated up, and grate some cheese for the topping, and by the time I had the rest done, it was ready to serve! Drain the pasta, tip them into the saucepan of sauce and give it all a quick stir, then dish it up and top with the grated cheese and some freshly-ground black pepper. From start to finish was about 11 minutes - imagine how delightful that would be to eat after a long day at work - a fancy meal that you can make in less time that it takes the pizza place to cook your order!

The only thing that give me pause is the price. Hand-crafted artisan pasta is NEVER going to be cheap - you are paying for the years of learning and practice, the skill and perfection, not to mention the copious amounts of passion put into every morsel... but it does mean that this becomes a 'treat' meal for most people. That said... it is worth it if you want to experience perfect pasta without having to learn it all yourself. Plus, of course... VENISON! Not the cheapest meat around.

Overall, if my budget allows, I will certainly be getting this again. I am very glad to see it is available in many supermarkets, but sad to admit it's not in all of them nation-wide. Yet. Be sure to ask your local quality food store to get this in if you want to experience Italy on a plate in your own home.
