Labor Day product reviews

At the tender age of 13, Henry Wheeler (Gattlin Griffith) grapples with the pains of adolescence while caring for his troubled, reclusive mother, Adele (Kate Winslet).

One day while shopping for school supplies, Henry and Adele encounter Frank Chambers (Josh Brolin), an intimidating man but one who clearly needs their help. Frank convinces the two of them to take him into their home, but later it becomes clear that he is a convict who has escaped.

Based on the novel by Joyce Maynard.

For a movie where not a lot really happens I surprisingly found this movie so compeling. The acting was fantastic and it left you wanting more.

Brolin is an escaped convict who has just escaped and needs a place to hide. Winslet has some medical issues and happens to be in the wrong place at the wrong time. Although complete opposites they find they need each other in more ways than one.

Although slow is places it actually doesn't become an issue because it just takes the viewers along at a steady pace. You are never bored and watching the clock you instead are gribbed by the characters and watching the story being told to you. You are hoping that it will be the fairy tale ending and everyone lives happily ever after but you know that it will never end up that way. You are cheering for the criminal and even though he is guilty he really isn't and you realise how life can be so unfear. It shows you, you can't help who you fall in love with.

I found the casting to be spot on. Kate and Josh can do so much with just a look across the room, there body language speaks volumes as much as there words. Two extremly talented actors. I really am surprised with how much I enjoyed it and really would not mind watching again - saying that though, I don't think it would be as gripping the second time around.
