Artemis Fowl: The Arctic Incident product reviews

Artemis Fowl receives an urgent e-mail from Russia. In it is a plea from a man who has been kidnapped by the Russian Mafiya: his father. As Artemis rushes to his rescue, he is stopped by a familiar nemesis, Captain Holly Short of the LEPrecon Unit. Now, instead of battling the fairies, Artemis must join forces with them if he wants to save one of the few people in the world he loves.

This is the second book in the Artemis Fowl series and we learn what happened to Artemis's father three years earlier. Cut ahead to now and Artemis learns that his father is in fact still alive, albeit missing a leg and the use of an eye, and so he sets off to find and rescue his father from Russia. While he is setting off to reunite with his father, Holly and crew are having to deal with goblins and illegal weaponry, and naturally Holly assumes that Artemis is a part of it, though this time he isn't.

This is a fab sequel to the first Artemis Fowl book and the characters are a lot of fun and they really are unique. I love that there is a nice, wide range of creatures, from humans to elves to fairies to dwarves to centaurs and more. Artemis is great as the child prodigy but still innocent in some ways when it comes to family and loving others, Holly as the short tempered, sassy LEPrecon agent struggling with her life and being one of the few (or perhaps only... can't quite remember) females in the force. I love Butler and I would say that he is my favorite character in this series.
