We buy boxes of Bundaberg Spiced Ginger Beer at Christmas time for the last few years, both to drink and give as gifts. It looks festive, tastes slightly different than the traditional gingerbeer. The taste is a little stronger, with a spicy, cinnamon aftertaste. I feel it tastes its best when it is really well chilled. The aroma reminds me of traditional Christmases from when I lived in Europe and North America, but without the heat of hot drinks, which is very suited to the New Zealand climate in December.

Glass bottles make it feel more classy. The gold, red and green colouring indicate the festive season. The traditional Bundaberg metal tab would be the only thing I would change, as I have spilt a few drinks due to the opening of these bottles requiring some strength and coordination.

As we only buy it at Christmas, it is a very special treat for our multigenerational family, being non-alcoholic anyone of any age can enjoy it with our celebrations. Love the gift tag on the cardboard packaging, no card required! We love taking a four pack or two when visiting relatives and friends at Christmas. A very affordable, thoughtful gift. I am always amazed how many people have never tasted or seen it!

I have a very strong dislike for ginger in my drinks but when my friend said she had found some spiced ginger I thought it would be interesting to try so when she handed me a cup and didn't say what the flavour as I guessed it was the spiced ginger and took a small sip, followed rather quickly by a large sip and then me asking why she was looking so surprised.

I forgot to sniff it first so my first impression was the nice gentle taste of ginger and cinnamon and then I thought to see if I could smell anything and it had a nice smell of ginger. I would gladly buy this drink for myself as it is one of the few ginger drinks that I actually do like. For some reason I think next time I might try and make some shortbread to have with it.

The bottle is a good size and the label really looks nice, reminds me of Christmas with the colours they have used. I like the information on the back, I also think it is great that they have instructions on how to remove the cap as those types of caps can be very tricky to remove even when you know what you are doing. I think that the idea of giving a small refund is a good idea but it is not available in New Zealand but since it is made in Australia then that information is relevant.

I hope this is a flavour that will be available for more than just the festive season.

I love Bundaberg's ginger beer and I'm a fan of mulled wine so when I saw this on the shelf it sounded like an interesting mix and I knew I wanted to give it a try.

The bottle is a really good size, it's perfect for splitting between two people, which I have done when we first tried this and then again today as it was my friends first try of it, and for someone like me, it is a perfect sized drink to slowly work away at. The design of the bottle is similar to their normal Bundaberg range but this time it has red to it, which makes sense as it is aiming for the Christmas season so looking more festive is definitely what caught my eye and had me looking at it.

Giving a taste, the underlying vibe of it was that it is still a good old bottle of ginger beer but with a soft and festive hit to it, so instead of the harshness that can come with the ginger beer you get a much more softer soft drink where the ginger takes a back seat to the cinnamon and cloves. I really liked this drink and whilst it can't surpass the original ginger beer I'd be happy to see this again next Christmas.
