When I requested this to review I didn't think it was going to be quite this big, but then again I did forget how big a poster is. LOL Icon

The pictures are shrink wrapped, keeping everything together really well, I thought at first that it was going to be one big book that you would need to gently tear the pictures out of, but happily they are all loose pictures. The cover has a nice and vibrant colour picture of Jake and the Neverland Pirates. My kids have only seen a couple of episodes of Jake and the Neverland Pirates (as their mum finds the Disney Junior channel to be more annoying than Nick Jnr. lol) but they could see pirates so were very happy.

I had to hunt out some colouring pencils, it would have been nice if there were some provided with the colouring in pictures, just so that if I had taken this to a grandparents house, there would have been no frantic searching for the oldies. There's 18 pictures, so a good variety for the kids to choose from, my four year old, three year old and their four year old were all able to pick one to do without a major fight.

Not sure I would buy this one in the future, would probably go for a character they know a bit more, but a fun activity for the kids.

My 5 and a half year old was lucky enough to win these giant colouring pages and her eyes lit up when she saw them - the sheer size of them is certainly instant appeal to kids!

I however looked at them and wondered how on earth she would find time to colour in even 1 page, let alone all 18 of them... however she set to it straight away and gave the first page a good go. I notice now about a month later that she hasn't finished a full page yet, but I imagine it's the sort of thing that you give a child to work on over a period of time until they have a great piece of artwork that they can be very proud of.

My daughter prefers to colour with felt pens but I feel these pages are too large for that - they'd soon run dry and it's wasteful on such large areas. I'd suggest thick crayons or even paint which would work on the reasonable quality paper as long as you didn't get it too watery-wet.

The colouring pages are loose-leaf which I like as it gives you the option to share them around several children and unlike colouring books, someone can scribble on their page and it won't spoil a whole book. There are a good variety of pictures - some slightly more simple than others.

My daughter doesn't actually know who Jake and the pirates are (and nor do I!) so the brand appeal wasn't there but that didn't stop her enjoying it. I see this as a great activity to bring out with a group of kids on a wet day... the only issue being where to store it in the meantime as it's so large!

I would recommend this to anyone who loves colouring and wants a big project to sink their teeth into - especially if they are fans of Jake and the pirates.

The Jake and the Neverland Pirates Giant Colouring Pages had instant appeal to Miss 5.5 mainly because of their size. When first looking at the shrink wrapped pack I thought it was a giant book but once open it was obvious they were loose pages. This meant that she could chose a page to work on and the others could be put away for another day. I did have to think hard about a suitable place to store it as once opened it needs to be kept flat to protect the pages. The thin space under the sofa is ideal.

Unlike the other Jake colouring kits I was given to review it didn't come with any colouring instruments so we were free to chose. My daughter chose her pip squeak markers but we found that the large areas that were required to be coloured exhausted the markers quickly. It was much better to use crayons or paint and faster too.

The thing I liked best about the giant pages were that it was a great size to share. I have seen a similar set being used in a classroom as a wet lunch time activity. Miss 5.5 and I worked together and while I found it very relaxing we were chatting about all sorts of different things. A page took several days to complete but she was very proud of her work and smiled when I suggested that she stick it on her wall. It is easy to decorate the room and the theme can be changed as her tastes change. It is also something an older brother or sister could colour for their younger sibling's room or even a parent that claims to not be artistic.

At less than a dollar a page for a licensed character it is great value. I am also thinking of giving a couple of unused pages to a three year old who is one of Jake's biggest fans. Since we don't have Sky TV my girls don't know Jake but I have seen these giant pages available in lots of other characters too.

This was the last Crayola: Jake & The Neverland Pirate's kit I received for review. This is a poster kit. It comes with 18 massive pages for colouring. The back of the pack gives you an idea of the types of images you will get to colour. This pack is really big, and I found it a bit more awkward to transport and for carrying along with bags and children when we got home.

This pack didn't come with markers, which made it a little less appealing to me. I'm not sure how they could have easily included markers, aside from maybe shrink-wrapping some to the outside of the kit. It does mean that your kids can use whatever they want. But it also means that if you pack this to go away with you these holidays, you will need to remember to take your art supplies. Or you will be in for a trip to the shops. Not that the kids will mind that!

This pack is also a little pricier than the other kits on offer. It would still make a great gift for the Jake fan, or for any child into art. I love that this is a poster kit though. As a child I always had the latest cool characters on my walls in poster form. Posters are an easy way to re-decorate and refresh your child's room. But often the glossy ones from the shop are dear. Here you can just about wallpaper a Jake feature wall with the posters.

As a parent, I would want to have this kit myself and colour the posters for my kid's walls. That way I could get a great look and they could be colour matched to the characters or I could give Izzy a make-over to match my daughter's features. My youngest in particular is due to move into her own room and I think a pirate theme would be great for her. She already says "Arrrr!" and "Yo Ho" at Jake when he is on TV.
