Board books are great value and when it is a book about a classic tale such as rowing your boat down the stream in my book it is a winner! This book has something extra however because it has a button you push and the tune of row, row, row your boat plays as you read the words inside the book. What young child wouldn't love this book.

The pictures in the book are as classic as the rhymes in the book, they are like photo illustrations of old teddybears and other soft animals as the teddy bear friends. The teddy bear on each page is rowing, paddling, or sailing a different boat which is great because young children are able to learn about different ways that boats can be powered along, as well as learning different action words.

One thing that I don't like about the book is the push button mechanism doesn't have any way for the battery to be changed. Most books with this type of musical attachment has an access point on the back to unscrew and change the battery but this book unfortunately doesn't have this option. So once the musical tune is exhausted that is it the book won't have the musical option.

Even if the young children can't read the words of the book they can enjoy pushing the button that starts up with the slightest touch can enjoy looking at the pictures within the book while listening to the row, row, row your boat tune. The font within the book is a black, bold, almost handwritten type of font which is easy to read and is great for young children to look at because it shows them the correct letter formations of the letter 'a' unlike this font it it shows the 'circle with a stick' letter 'a'.

I bought this book with the intention of using it as an education resource as I am an early childhood teacher and it has proven to be a valuable item for my resource collection. The thick pages has made it hard wearing, and the glossy pages has made it easy to wipe and keep clean, and the musical tune has lasted a while too which has surprised me. So if you are looking for a great book don't overlook this one it is a keeper.
