Classic Kiwi Childhood Toy! I grew up with a Tupperware Shape-O so as soon as I found out I was pregnant it was one of the first toys I purchased.

They are such a sturdy and well made product that will last for generations, we have had ours for two years now and it still looks brand new, even though it gets played with most days. The great thing is you can get it out when your kiddies are little tots as they can roll it around and listen to the shapes roll about inside. Being plastic it is easy to keep clean with a quick wipe.

My daughter has just turned two and has started to get the grasp of pulling it apart to release the shapes, this took quite a bit of practice but she now has the hang of it. It is great as there are so many different shapes that you would not think to teach your children, I also love that there is numbers on the shapes so you can use the toy to teach them different things. The cut out shapes are very precise and only the correct shape will fit in the correct hole so no wiggling other shapes in. I also love clean up time as you put the shapes in the holes and then pack it away, nothing falls out!!

As a child we had a tupperware shape-o ball and it was most definitely a favourite toy amongst me and my three sisters. In fact, my parents held onto all these years and 25 years later it is still in perfect condition and now my kids absolutely love playing with this toy too.

I love the bright colours and the durability of the toy and the shapes. I like the chunky shapes as it makes it easier for little fingers to try find the correct slot. It also doubles as a ball or a rattle so is a really versatile toy. It is brilliant for learning as it teaches children different colours, all the different shapes and also counting.

The reason I gave it an eight for safety as when pulled apart it has quite a strong pull back and if little fingers (or big fingers) are in the slot it does have a little pressure to it and can hurt a wee bit. But apart from that these are one of the best toys money can buy. It will last for years and all children with get plenty of use out of it and it will last for generations.

I use to have one of these as a child as well. I think of the Shape-O as a Kiwi icon, the traditional toy that almost everyone has a childhood memory of. I'm not sure what happened to our one from when we were kids. What I loved about it was it was so colourful. The bold red and blue design, with the yellow blocks. It meant that if you lost some of the pieces you were sure to find them!

I remember using the shapes in my playdough at times. The different shapes made for great patterns in the dough, and I could push it into the tops of the shapes as well. I learnt all the names of the shapes thanks to my mum talking to me as I was using the toy. Later I would say the shapes myself and I got a lot of pride out of being able to work the shapes into the holes.

The only negative I can think of when it comes to the Shape-O is that I use to jam my fingers in the middle of it when trying to open/empty it. I remember it would hurt so much. It took quite a bit of strength to open it up as well. Aside from that, I would still purchase one of these for my own family or friends. They are a great toy, teaching early maths with shapes and geometry. Plus the lifetime guarantee is worthwhile when it comes to Tupperware products.

I had a Tupperware Shape O when I was a child and it still looks like new and Mum brings it out for the grandkids to play with. The bright primary colours of red and blue for the ball and yellow for the pieces hasn't dated at all. After having such fond memories of playing with it all those years ago I knew I had to invest in one for my children. It is certainly not a cheap toy.

I love how versatile it is. Babies can roll it or use it as a rattle. Toddlers can put the shapes in. Older preschoolers read the numbers, order the numbers, name the shapes and compete against the clock to post all the pieces. It is also a toy that encourages you to engage with your child and brings out the nurturing teacher in you. It is one toy I would grap out when I have a baby visit but no baby toys around. The pieces are large enough not to be a choking hazard.

I love how the littlies can't open the ball. I have found they can usually open it about 3 years of age. This means the toddlers that like to cart things around the house and out into the garden aren't losing all the pieces. If any do get lost they can be purchased from your Tupperware dealer.

Anyone with a child had prob had one of these or got one of these, you might of had one as a child, I know I had one as a child. Now my kids have one too.

This is a great toy it lasts for a long time and if you lose the pieces you can get another set of them. It has 10 shapes and they all have numbers on them as well for counting pleasure and shape learning. The shape o lasts for ages with kids dropping it and everything it will stand it. Once the child has put all the shapes in and counted them all they can either pull them out by pulling the cords or an adult might have to help, its great bonding for child and parent too.

These can be great gifts for a 1st birthday or even a Christmas its a toy that will not be left out of play. Children older love these too. We found as our ones were little rolling it around with the shapes inside was great it rattled and was fun to roll or push around, as they grow the toys grows with them they start sorting out the shapes and then counting to see if they are all there.

One awesome toy to have in a household the best thing is you can keep it for grandchildren or pass it on.

Tupperware, we all remember it growing up. For most of us, its all that our grandparents had in their cupboards. I had a shape-o-ball growing up, I imagine it was probably passed down from my brother. So when I started my own family it was only natural that one of the first toys my son got was a shape-o-ball. Even back then I remember tralling the shops looking for the best value for money, as a new family, money is often tight. So you want to make sure you get the best for your coin but at the same time you do not want to be spending all your coin. After hours of endless searching, it was discovered that nothing could beat Tupperware.

With its lifetime guarantee you knew you were getting your moneys worth. And you also knew you can't beat a classic. Such a simple design, yet guranteed so much hours of fun, from learning shapres and numbers, colours and noises, and its even a ball to roll around. Such versatility in something so simple. And made to last. The tupperware shape-o-ball is strong and durable.

Three kids later and it still was as great as the day it was purchased, and it is one of those things we still have. As you know there will always be young kids around, so why get rid of something so great? My oldest boy will be 13 this year, and we still have his shape-o-ball. I'm not sure to be perfectly honest if I would spend RRP price for one these days, but I would definitely search for a second hand one before I bought something else.

You just can't beat quality, or tried and true products.

A toy that definitely lasts and stands the test of time! I had one growing up that was shared between me and my 2 sisters, and I have 5 in my house now including the one I grew up with which is over 30 years old and still looks brand new! Shape-o's are great for young children to play with, to learn their shapes, develop their eye-hand co-ordination, test their patience levels as they try the shapes in the different holes then finally insert the shape into the correct hole.

I love how the basic colours are still used....I mean don't fix something that isn't broken right!! Blue, red, yellow, good primary colours that are bold and eye-catching and appeals to both girls and boys and adults alike. Made from a steady plastic and with that Tupperware guarantee this toy has to be a winner!

It does require a parental supervision however because once all the shapes are inside the ball the young child is unable to undo the Shape-o themselves to tip out the shapes so an adult or older sibling is needed for this part. No biggie there but it would be great if the children had the strength the twist and pull the shape-o apart to shake the shapes out themselves.

Tupperware is expensive but the price is a one off payment because Tupperware is build to last and once you have the product you have it for life, then you have it for another life when you pass it down to the next generation! I am a huge fan of Tupperware and Shape-o's! If you don't have one you must seek one out because they are fantastic...such a tough and reliable educational toy for your children or grandchildren.
